Thanks! In the same setup I have two Paradigm subs. I like them. One is Seismic 110: The other is Paradigm Sub 15:
As much as subs are mentioned and discussed around here.....Paradigm signature subs never enter the conversation. They're signature subs are world class.
I demoed Sub 1 about 10 years ago. I was really impressed. I think there is a reason why the signature sub is rarely mentioned... This Signature Sub 2 retails for US$10.5K.....
Not just real sure what we are looking at?? It looks like drivers on right and left and attaches to the wall? I honestly thought it was a surround sound wall mounted speaker. Not sure what is on the bottom?
The subs have a total of six 10" woofers. 2 woofers per side. There are 3 sides. 4500 watts! You should see more details here from 2011 article: Paradigm Reference Signature SUB 2 Subwoofer
Wow, that picture is much clearer, (6) drivers, that is a sub for a movie theater, or possibly good with some Wilson MAXX speakers. You know, the problem with killer subs is many times we can "out sub" our current full range speakers, too much sub can really mess things up. I really have too much sub in my present system and I have to really watch them closely or I could sound like a Cerwin Vega home.
Yeah, it is designed to go real low, go real loud with very low distortions. Great for movie, but also great for music without any muddiness. The total surface area is roughly the same as three 15" woofers. I uses to have a total of three 15" in my living room. Indeed I could get them to overwhelm the room if not careful.
If one knows how to use a sub properly no issues at all. As I've said many times on these boards, a buddy not to far from me has a set of Legacy Audio "V" speakers. Each being 6 feet tall. He has 6 LJ Fathom f112 subs Fathom® f112v2-GLOSS 3 stacked next to each "V" speakers, which themselves each have a 12 inch ultra linear Bass driver and a 12 inch subwoofer built into each speaker. V | Legacy Audio - Building the World's Finest Audio Systems Now you would see all that and say "way over kill" but nope! And upon walking up to the subs with ear to subwoofer stack you cant hear them. Sit in the sweet spot or any seat in the room you still dont even think they are on until he turns them off. Then you see what the subs do to the overal sound and character of the music. Its incredible when listening to the before and after sound of the system.
Thank you, this gives me a little comfort. In fact sometimes, despite the joy of listening, I have tiny doubts about the very short distance from the speakers. Before the system was in a larger room, so the distance was more "closer to standards", and when I moved it to where it is now, especially in the beginning I perceived "different listening". But very soon I got more and more used to the new sound and more and more enjoyed the music. It's different, but it's beautiful.
paradigm speakers usually have excellent bass too and are above average efficiency. the monitor 11v7 towers put out sub bass with as little as 80 wpc. very underrated and overlooked.
I will be setting up the vintage gear on the back side of the room. I should have it up and ready by the weekend. I love the vintage sound esp with the older jazz and classic rock albums I have acquired this past year.
