My office is on the lower level and yes the views are spectacular, but nothing beats the living room views on the upper level: These were taken last year when we got a light dusting of snow.
There are quite a number of "multichannel" SACDs in 3.0 that benefit from a dedicated centre channel speaker, especially when the F L/R and C speakers are identical. Jeff
Great setup, you're the only other person on the forum I've seen with a Reference 4420 amp in their system, I love mine...going strong since I got it in 1999. What mods were done to yours!
Some stunning rooms, whether it be big or small, expensive or inexpensive. Every room here means everything to that individual. More power to you guys.
My current shop system. Dynaco ST-70 NAD Series 20 PSB Image T45 Velodyne VRP 10” sub Technics SL-D202 with AT VM540ML Sony DVP-S7000 for CDs I fully rebuilt the dynaco and the NAD. I know I need to get the speakers off the stand, but sometimes I have to move it. Listening to Mingus Ah Um right now, and it’s just a great sounding system. I know there’s better, but it’s going to take some significant upgrades at this point. I have a pair of rebuilt Heathkit w5m’s that I run sometimes. Fun stuff!
Killer shop system! This will be the first time I've ever made thus recommendation but if possible you should consider putting your floorstanders on the floor.
I decided this weekend to try swapping out the fluted wood columns I'm using for stands for my Heresy's for small end tables that provide a bit more stability. Not yet sure how I feel. The columns look beautiful, but the tables are more stable and actually provide the perfect storage space for vinyl.
They definitely look much worse than your current set up, but have you considered a set of speaker stands filled with sand (or similar)? I couldn't believe how much that helped my system.
Thanks for the feedback. I definitely agree about adding weight. I actually drilled a hole in the bottom of one of the columns, filled it with sand and plugged it up. I turned the column over, not realizing that it had slight gaps at some of the seams. Needless to say, I'm still sweeping up sand. I'm now looking at picking up a few bags of 1/4" steel shot. That should add some nice ballast without the mess.
Is that where they go? Ha! I have them elevated as I stand at a workbench across from the system, facing it, so I need the height. I’m going to make a set of stands one of these days. I get stereo imaging. My employees, not so much....
No. Funny you ask that. When I first moved to Philly, I lived in Mt. Airy and loved it. I am now on the Main Line.
