Kinda late to the party. Pretty much the same as in my avatar/profile pic, but here is a better view with more light. Huh. Link doesn’t seem to embed for me. Anyway, there is the link to the google photo. Missing from the pic is my Nak BX-1 or BX-2 which normally is under that preamp on the upper right. At the shop getting some service right now. Also, Monty is not hanging out in his very near field position, as he is in my profile pic. https://photos.app.goo.gl/vdYoKQwfjXqEak8n8 What you do see is my Hafler amp, upper left shelf, Sansui TU-717 tuner on top left, Kenwood KD-550 top right, PS Audio preamp upper right shelf, basic Sony DVD/CD player mid shelf, with a BlueSound Node 2i on top of that (the blue light you see), and underneath is a Yamaha AX-592 that powers two Dahlquist m-903’s in the rear of the room. I turn that amp and speakers on for TV, etc. The two main speakers are Dahlquist M-907’s on their original stands.
Hey, thanks! What did I do wrong? I would like to learn how. Also, here is the identifying info: What you now do see is my Hafler amp, upper left shelf, Sansui TU-717 tuner on top left, Kenwood KD-550 top right, PS Audio preamp upper right shelf, basic Sony DVD/CD player mid shelf, with a BlueSound Node 2i on top of that (the blue light you see), and underneath is a Yamaha AX-592 that powers two Dahlquist m-903’s in the rear of the room. I turn that amp and speakers on for TV, etc. The two main speakers are Dahlquist M-907’s on their original stands.
You're welcome and its super easy after you upload your pic just copy paste it super easy no need to mess around with URL's as long as its hosted on the web you can copy/paste it. And nice old school system!
Thanks! I am happy with mixing in just a little little new school, such as the BlueSound Node 2i for my Tidal, and my tracks I have ripped on my Mac Mini out of the screen, in with the old school. And am happy with the all black system too. and love the old teak cabinet I found in SLC.
You know the story of Nipper? The original ad is Nipper sitting atop a coffin looking at the gramophone. Such an uproar they cropped the coffin out...
Your balance knob should be balanced when the green dot is at 12:00, not 6:00. Not sure what’s happening here. Amazing integrated though. It’s what I use.
Have the balance dialed in using a db meter and that's where the knob ended up. Perhaps I could pull it off and set it at 12:00?
Odd! That would work. There is a ribbon of wires for the green light connecting the knob to the electronics inside the unit, so if you do this yourself, be carful and go slow. Or have your dealer take a look. It’s definitely 180 degrees off where the indicator should be.
I did not know that. Interesting. My Dad was a RCA dealer when I grew up and memories are from that. I always look for one (affordable) when we walk through antique stores.
I am wondering/hopeful that the sound treatment panels give you the same 'effect'? I have my Silver 8s about 3' from the back and one side wall (asymmetric room oh the horror!). The soundstage depth and space is actually good, but not quite as good as my Titus monitors on stands 6' from the back wall (and my ears) and driven by 300B tubes. I don't EXPECT the soon to be delivered GIK panels to get me there with the Silver 8s but I hope so ...! Then I could set up the tube/nearfield system in another room if desired. I currently use 'both' (one at a time) depending on recording and mood, etc.. I have a Parasound P 7 preamp feeding a (balanced connections) Parasound A 21 to the Silver 8s, and feeding 300B amps (unbalanced) which drive the Tituses. I've increased the separation of the Tituses (and decreased it for the Silver 8s) so I don't even have to remove the Tituses, the Silver 8s sound the same to me whether the Tituses are 'there' or not. Surprising. I have some free standing GIK panels in the delivery which will flank the Silver 8s, hopefully providing 'symmetry' to that setup, with more panels in the RH corner which is closer to the RH Silver 8. PS/Edit: panels mounted on the wall will flank the TV, with two 2'x4' panels placed in front of the TV/Soundbar on the shelf when listening in stereo. I chose (using GIK's suggestions) diffuser/absorbers (wood slat decorative panel on the front of an absorber for diffusion). Will have floor to ceiling triangular bass traps in the corners (RH front and rear). Going to move the sub to midpoint of RH side wall to even out modes (per modeling, pending measurements in REW).
Congrats on the divorce! I like how you have a listening position and a teevee positon. I too have those Klipsch rp-600ms!
This critic is no corporate shill. Or after years of listening to increasingly higher-end audio equipment, he forgot where he came from.
I finally have record shelves again! I wanted to avoid getting ikea shelves again after this move and found an oak cubby cabinet from an elementary school on Craigslist. A friend who is much handier than I am helped sand, stain, and build the top portion. Really like how it came out! Whole project was less than $200. Almost have all my LP’s added to it and will have a little room to grow, though I still have an ikea 2x2 for overflow.
Rega RP6/ Hana ML, Audio Research SP-20/VT-80SE, Goldnote DS-10 DAC, Audiolab 6000CDT, Lector CDP-06/Telefunken tubes, SF olympica 3, Sumiko s.9 sub (off camera to the left)
New ones are good and will sound much better than vintage that are well past their peak. Fresh strong tubes will feel like you just got a new amp. The problem with new is they don’t last nearly as long as the vintage. So the money you are saving by not buying vintage 7591 isn’t more of an upfront savings. And yes, the NOS sound better but it’s nothing to get bothered about. I’m mean if you have freakishly expensive speakers and source components with that fisher the extra $300 for NOS is the better choice. For the 12ax7’s I’d only buy and use vintage.
