  2. Ok, we got plenty of space and the new system racks just arrived. Now we just need to wait for the amplifiers.

  3. The two platforms for the mono blocks. The middle part rests on spikes in the outer frame. Still have to put on the Cerabase feet I showed earlier.

  4. The main system rack follows the same principal for each of the individual shelves. Below is a pic of the lateral spikes that anchor the individual shelves to the steel frame.

    Looks great so far!!

What are those pucks your speakers are standing on? I need something like that for my rack since it sits on a stone floor. Right now I've got my spikes buried in rubber bottle stoppers I got at the hardware store but over the last year they've penetrated all the way down to the bottom. The only thing keeping them from contacting the floor is some Teflon sliders on the bottom of the stoppers.

    Very nice

  9. I'm renting the house we live in here in the UK, the Wilsons are very heavy, even with the supplied protection coins they would damage the wooden floor. $1 hockey puck does the trick, but remeber I still have these little coins under the spikes - I think the spikes alone would split the pucks. ;)

  10. Was hoping to be done by now but with a complete reconfiguration there is always something that goes wrong. Have now figured it all out and it sounds very smooth.

    Pics will follow shortly.

Its great that you have that much space to work with:thumbsup: At one time I was going to move the support column (hidden inside the wall on the right in my photo) and build a custom listening room from scratch. But time has moved on......

  14. Here you go ...

Finally (almost) everything is in place and working as it should. Here is the new and improved system:

    Digital Source:
    Naim CD555 with 555PS

    Pre-Amplification:
    Conrad-Johnson ART S3

    Power-Amplification:
    Conrad-Johnson LP140M

    Speakers:
    Wilson Sophia Mk.2

    ICs:
Between CD player and pre-amp I'm playing over the weekend with three different ICs, my current NordOst Tyr, the Cardas Golden Cross and Cardas Clear. Between the pre and power amps I'm running Cardas Golden Cross.

    Speaker Cables:
    NordOst Frey

    Power Cables:
    JPS Kaptovator, Cardas Golden Power.

    Power Conditioner:
    RSA Dmitri

    System Racks:
finite-elemente HD02MR and two HD09MR all three with Cerabase feet.

... and now I can just sit back and enjoy the music, rainy weekend here in London - perfect.

  18. Now someone just needs to clean up this cable salad. :D

I'm still playing with various cable alternatives this weekend before I start the cable dressing excercise.

Oliver, looks nice. One question, though. No SACD or DVD-Audio?

  21. Nope, only the 555 for redbook and HDCD. I will add an SACD player at some point, all these SACDs must be tired of only getting their redbook layer heard. ;)

Got it. Still, you are missing out on some nice single-layer SACDs. :)

You'll have to spend double what you spent on your Naim 555 to get comparable SACD playback. I'm with Lontano on this one... I'd just sell the SACD collection.
