It is an H2 high output MC. It runs through an EAR 834P that I upgraded with Mundorf Supreme silver/oil.
Spent a little time yesterday realigning the Audio-Technica AT33PTG/II on my Micro Seiki DD-40 to Lofgren B. As with most of the vintage tables, standard alignment spec was for something closer to Stevenson, so the cartridge is pretty far forward in the slots, and slightly angled in the headshell ... sounding really nice now, but it was sounding pretty nice before too
The first photo is an Ortofon 2M Black that I used with my VPI Scout 1.1. The 2nd photo is a Soundsmith Paua MKII that I am now using with my new VPI Classic 4 turntable mounted on a 12" printed 3D arm. I love the new combo!
Accuphase AC 2/Suspension rebuilt and Namiki Boron Cantilever with Microridge Stylus to replace the original Sapphire Cantilever with Microridge
But in his original post, McLover specifically refers to the gear he’s talking about, a MAC 1400, and then to the company as McIntosh. I’m unclear what you’re complaining to him about. Aren’t you saying exactly the same thing?
My luck with Kim was not good. Two carts came back with off-center and/or tilted cantilevers. I’ll gladly go back to Soundsmith’s excessive wait times in exchange for the flawless quality.
Nice picture, well framed and good foreground detail. Usually when I finally get off a good one, I find a big piece of lint I didn't notice riding on the stylus
Haha! Thanks. If you look closely, it's not perfect as it was my first full day with the cartridge-I didn't really do any dusting on it and there's a white spot on top of the cartridge body that will not come off-at least not easily. But it looks not bad for a 30+ year old cartridge and sounds very good! I did end up dusting around the bearing housing and armboard on my table today though after getting up close and taking that picture (Samsung Galaxy S7)-they were very furry .
I thought it would be pretty cool if folks could post pictures of their cartridges. tell us about them if you like. everyone's welcome as analog rules
Nagaoka MP-50 - sounding better than ever loaded @ 100k into the Accuphase. Detailed and airy, yet a density like MM's do so well.
I'm mainly using a "New Old Stock" Audio Technica AT450 on my early 80's Technics Direct Drive turntable (P-Mount) It's a nude elliptical stylus. I find this more accurate than other cartridges I have from Technics, AT, and Grado. I have some posts in the needledrop thread if anyone wants to take a listen. https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/post-your-needledrops-part-8.401997/page-39#post-22235479 Shoot-outs welcome if you are up for a challenge I love to hear needledrops of other turntables/cartridges. [Disclosure - Not my pictures]
I recently moved from a Denon DL110 to a Rega Exact. So far I am very happy and consider it an upgrade. Less surface noise amongst other, but it is also has tracking and a nice warmth and width to it. It sits on a Rega Planar 3 2016.
