Question guys. I suck at figuring out how to hook certain things up. The Micca MB42 speakers I have, doesn't have RCA connectors. So my question is, how can I connect my phono amp to my speakers? The phono amp has a RCA output of course. Will I need some kind of adapter or something? The phono preamp is a Pyle Pro PP444.
You don't have a receiver? Or a preamp and amp? Pre should go to amp. Amp to speakers. Phono pre to receiver. Or to preamp.
That looks like an active speaker set-up. Active speakers have amps built into them, with volume control. So you hookup like this: Turntable to phono preamp Phono preamp to active speaker Adjust volume on speaker
It looks like the speakers are powered speakers, meaning they have amps built into them. I'm basing this on the knobs on the lower right hand corner of each speaker. Those must be volume controls. If you have powered speakers, you can plug your source directly into the speaker (but you can only run one source at a time).
You have what're called passive speakers (most are). You'll need an integrated amp or a receiver, both combine a volume control and a power amp. Don't just get a preamp or a power amp. Preamps alone won't drive a speaker. Most power amps don't have volume controls.
One more question. Where should I go to find powered/active speakers? Is Best Buy or Wal-Mart an option?
Online, http://audioengineusa.com/Store/Powered-Speaker-Systems. Or https://emotiva.com/products/powered-monitors/speakers/airmotiv-4s. Plenty of others as well. The cheapest answer may well be to keep what you have and buy one of these. Lepai 2020A+ http://www.parts-express.com/lepai-...dio-mini-amplifier-with-power-supply--310-300. Also available at Amazon, Ebay etc...
https://emotiva.com/products/amplifiers/mini-x-100 This might be a cheaper alternative than going active speakers.
