There are original scripts out there, but they don't get green lit by the major studios any longer. You know why all these reboots and sequels get made? BECAUSE THEY MAKE MONEY FOR THE STUDIOS! It's product the studio already owns the rights to, they have a built-in audience and they are a much smaller risk than a completely original film.

Every time a P.O.S. like Transformers 4 makes a billion dollars...and a movie with an original script like Edge of Tomorrow barely breaks even...the studios lean more and more in the direction of green-lighting those reboots and remakes.

Want them to stop being made? Convince the general public to stop going to see them in droves. As long as they make money, they are going to keep on coming.

Remember, this is a business, the sole purpose is to make money, originality doesn't have anything to do with it.

I had read that they were planning to make a film based on the recent comic series and Liam Neeson was being considered for the protagonist. Not sure if it's supposed to be the same character "Dutch," which Arnold played in the original film.

This will have to feature a over 7' foot avatar as Liam Neeson is 6'4"".

i thought the remake of Robocop was very entertaining. if they can make a better Predator (which would be tough considering Arnold was so bad ass in the original), i'm all for it.

There are so many other books series that could make great franchises. Take the Stainless Steel Rat books for a start. But I guess Hollywood execs just don't read books anymore.

All the Predator films made money.
There's the franchise with models / gaming etc. Delay ? Waiting for a big star to get involved. Arnie would do it for plenty greenbacks and a slice of the pie( percentage ).

As mentioned in The Expendables 2. :)

  14. I think it was the second best. In fact I think the series only needs part 1 & 4. But since 4 ended on such a perfect note I am not looking forward to 5.

  15. They do but it has to be for young adults and able to be broken into 2 or 3 parts.

The original concept for Predator 2 was to have Arnold star as Dutch's twin brother Lt. Shaefer, a rugged Los Angeles-based cop whose brother had a mysterious encounter with the Predator a few years before. When Arnold was unable to commit to the role due to other obligations, the film was re-written to feature Danny Glover as Lt. Harrigan. Who knew Dutch had a twin brother?

To me personally the first was classic as with the original Termanator.None of the others ever came anywhere close.

I agree mostly, except that I would class Terminator 2 to be every bit as good as T1, but otherwise you're spot on.

Most people I knoe liked T2 even more than the first.
I never got into that movie at all.

    T2 for me.
    Really rate Predator 2.
But, Danny Glover's wtf expressions sometimes look dumb. Bill Paxton shines in this. Wish Big Wednesday's Gary Busey would have been the lead star.

Dark Horse Comics' first Predator comic book mini-series from 1990 featured Dutch's brother, but he was a rugged New York City cop. Its story was actually better than what we got in Predator 2. :D
