    "WOM" = "word of mouth".

Not sure why "WOM" was declared to be a disaster. "Madness" has good audience scores on IMDB and RT.

But the person who claimed "WOM seems to be a disaster" also claimed "The Batman" got poor reviews, so... grain of salt.

Oh, and FWIW, I thought "Bad Guys" was dull. No clue why it's gotten such good reviews - it's not terrible but it's slow and uninventive...

Just seeing what i am seeing on FB , normally Marvel feedback on Live Action is +/- (4/1, 9/1) this is 1/1 , which is interesting as Moon Knight is about the same ....people seem to prefer straight super-heroics

Friday dropped 81% from opening weekend, not good. A 75% drop would equal around $47 million for the weekend, most MCU/DC movies drop in the 50-60% range for weekend #2.

rebounded a tiny bit today, still a flip of the coin, if it hits a record breaking drop.
pretty sure , if they have to Disney will project a little higher , so it does not garner a lot of press.
we will not know until actuals on Monday afternoon

First weekend people went with zero knowledge of it, and a lot of money was made.

Now word of mouth is delivering the impression that's not so great, surely not better than the first one. It will make a profit...but not an extraordinary profit.

Sam Raimi not guilty, the script was not one of the better MCU ones...thought I was watching a slightly improved version of "Dark Phoenix" :D

Weekend estimate is $61 million - down 67.4% from opening weekend. The Cinemascore is B+, one the worst results for a MCU movie.

By comparison The Batman dropped 50.4%

Yes, though they benefitted from Firestarter being a bomb (or should I say, flaming out) at the box office:

Box Office: Doctor Strange 2 Has Big Second Weekend Drop With $61M – Deadline
'Doctor Strange 2' Leads Box Office Again, 'Firestarter' Flops - Variety

A movie fan tells the writer: "It’s a two-hour season finale to WandaVision. I expected more from Sam Raimi; what’s going on here? They set-up this whole multi-universe thing and then re-set it by the end of the film. Where do we go from here?"

I liked the new Dr. Strange, but it really is just a finale to WandaVision. They're saying it's on the road to making about $700M+ worldwide, which is not that far off from the first Dr. Strange. I wouldn't be surprised if the new film hits $800M.

    Straight to streaming....

Prey is coming to Hulu August 5

“Prey,” an all-new action-thriller from 20th Century Studios directed by Dan Trachtenberg (“The Boys,” “10 Cloverfield Lane”) and the newest entry in the “Predator” franchise, will stream August 5, 2022, exclusively on Hulu.

Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, “Prey” is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

“Prey” is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, written by Patrick Aison (“Jack Ryan,” “Treadstone”), and produced by John Davis (“Jungle Cruise,” “The Predator”) and Jhane Myers (“Monsters of God”), with Lawrence Gordon (“Watchmen”), Marty Ewing (“It: Chapter Two”), James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas and Marc Toberoff (“Fantasy Island”) serving as executive producers.

The filmmakers were committed to creating a film that provides an accurate portrayal of the Comanche and brings a level of authenticity that rings true to its Indigenous peoples. Myers, an acclaimed filmmaker, Sundance Fellow and member of the Comanche nation herself, is known for her attention and dedication to films surrounding the Comanche and Blackfeet nations and her passion for honoring the legacies of the Native communities. As a result, the film features a cast comprised almost entirely of Native and First Nation’s talent, including Amber Midthunder (“The Ice Road,” “Roswell, New Mexico”), newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp (“Sooyii”), Michelle Thrush (“The Journey Home”), Julian Black Antelope (“Tribal”).

I musta slept through that portion of the 80's where The Predator became a beloved, money-making property that deserved sequels, spin-offs, video games and prequels.

You would never know this by Social Media , much like BVS...this will be labeled a disappointment (and somewhat of a bomb) ...due to the horrible legs , and just the general horrible word of mouth on Social Media....same thing happened with Captain Marvel , but that was more "hate-wokeness" related , and it was the same voices yelling in an echo chamber.

The dislike of DS MOM is very real, even from people , who seemed to liked to loved all of the previous (KF) Marvel films

Perception in some times greater then fact , esp. in the internet age

2022 movies certified "fresh" by Rotten Tomatoes

Welcome to the best-reviewed movies of 2022! Every week, we add the latest Certified Fresh films across all genres and mediums, including superhero (The Batman), animation (Turning Red), comedy (I Want You Back), and horror (Scream).

Movies achieve Certified Fresh status by maintaining a Tomatometer score of at least 75% after a minimum number of reviews: 80 for wide releases, 40 for streaming or limited release movies, and 20 for movies premiering on television. Each movie needs at least five of its reviews to be written by Top Critics, and the only way to lose being Certified Fresh is by dropping below 70%.

73 movies listed so far for 2022

Maybe the movie is a complete dud and deserves a straight to video/streaming release?
