Man, the movie titles due out next year look like sports scores...

    Ant-Man 3
    Creed 3
    Shazam 2
    John Wick 4
    Guardians of the Galaxy 3
    Fast 10
    Spider-verse 2
    Transformers 7
    Indiana Jones 5
    Mission: Impossible 7
    Dune 2
    Hunger Games 5
    Ghostbusters 5
    Aquaman 2

Come along ma baby, whole lotta sequels goin' on! Does nobody come out with an original movie idea these days? You know, like NOT a sequel, not a remake, not a reboot, but a fresh new story with exciting, different characters we've never seen before? Anybody? Huh? Bueller? Bueller?

124 movie sequels currently on the way – Film Stories

Will AquaMan still happen after the big change at DC/Warner?

Good question. The first Aquaman made $1.1 billion dollars, which was a massive hit by any measure, but I'm not hearing a lot of buzz on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (aka Aquaman 2), due out for Christmas 2023. Jason Momoa also has a good-sized part in the upcoming The Flash movie in June, but that's been a very troubled production. I would bet that DC Films -- the new Marvel-like Warner Bros. division running the Batman/Superman-comic book movies -- is concerned about it. If Flash star Ezra Miller can stay out of jail and avoid controversy between now and then, maybe that film will do OK. I think both The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom are said to have cost $200M+, which is a hefty amount to earn back. My guess is each would be lucky to make maybe $600M-$700M (if that), but that'll be profitable.

It’s pretty much done. Post-production has just been a little long due to the back long of CGI work.

I'm waiting for "AQUAWOMAN VERSUS THE PREHISTORIC PLANT MATTER". :righton:

But, seriously, looking at those movies scheduled for release next year makes me want to retch.

I'll post a more complete list when I get a chance, but the number of remakes / comic book movies / sequels / franchise films is kind of staggering.

It's like the UK football scores on BBC1 at five o'clock

    Antman 3 - Creed 3
Shazam 2 - John Wick 4 (good away win)

I can see diminishing returns here and it will be interesting how the DC movies do considering Gunn is basically saying these movies are meaningless now as he's scrapping the universe.

Apparently yes, The Flash and Aquaman will proceed. Too much invested already.

Movies I want to see in the theatre, it's a short list.

    Guardians of the Galaxy 3
    Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse
    Indiana Jones (pending reviews)
Mission Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1
    Oppenheimer
    Dune Part Two

that's about it unless there's something new & fresh that catches fire

Maybe I missed a thread somewhere but I don't see Flashpoint on the list. Has it been shelved?

Official teaser out today, nods to 2001 are pretty funny.

This trailer went over like a lead balloon in my Avatar 2 screening, with people openly scoffing at the screen.

I don’t blame them. Parodies of 2001 have been done to death. I found it deathly unfunny. I don’t have much hope for the film if this is the level of creativity we’re going to get. I expect a massive bomb.

It’s got the female and gay male demo. It’ll do decent (or 45% at least) before it goes to HBO Max.

Oh thanks, I wasn’t sure how far along this was. Also they’re saying about moving Tge Flash up a week. I thought that was sunk because of Ezra’s issues?

That’s understandable, I just wasn’t sure how far along the were in production. I figured some of you on here knew more!

I think Cocaine Bear could be a sleeper hit. My only concern is that the cast seems.a little lackluster but I think the high concept itself might be enough. I think director Elizabeth Banks should have put herself in a one of the leads as well and that might have helped.

These remaining DC movies - Flash, Shazam, Aqua man - might be a hard sell with everything going on at DC with the reboot.

Jennifer Lawrence has an R Rated comedy called No Hard Feelings opening this summer - I don't think there's been a trailer yet - this will be a good test to see if her box office star power remains after taking a break for a few years.

I'd bank on MI 7. Cruise seems to be on a roll. Fast 10 will almost certainly do well internationally, as those always do.

It's a prequel taking place 50 years before the events of the first one.

So, no chance for Jennifer Lawrence to score another multi millionaire contract. She hasn't had a true hit in almost 10 years, after 2015's final Hunger Games movie.

    Passengers
broke even and possibly made a small profit. The rest of the films she starred in, all lost money.

I get the feeling that if TOM CRUISE could clone himself the major movie studios would love that. Even a 1st-generation 'Tom Cruise Human Clone' would make a great deal of money for any studio that hired it! :p
