What I like about the '87 remix is that you can hear the complete awesome bassline that simply fades out in the album mix at the end of the song.
Sadly, it's not included on any of their compilation albums AFAIK. Not even on the Pirate Radio box set. It was only included on the 2015 Edsel reissue of the debut album
Thanks for the link. I hate the intro. When the 'proper song' starts, I wish the snare had more reverb and smack to it . No subtlety at all in the remix with the drums. Have no idea what the 16th note pattern on synth piano? is all about. This seems more like an 'extended Dance remix' - for that, I guess it's ok. Otherwise it's an abomination of the original, imho.
That's the one? I appreciate the link. Thanks for posting it. Much appreciated. I'm glad it's not included in the set. It sounds kind of gaudy and cheesy to me, somehow accomplishing the opppsite effect the 'real song' and mix has. I will get off my soapbox now...!
Oh snap upon further analysis I have to tack on the first few drum beats then chords of The Adultress with a fade out on the end of my new Extended Play...
That's the Extended Version. The remix/edit is not on YouTube, that version is a lot closer to the album mix.
I have it as part of this set, all were issued in 2015 individually or as part of this essential box. I say that in so much as the extra tracks and inclusive DVD in each album are all essential to me. Pretenders – Pretenders 1979 - 1999 (2015, Box Set)
Just into disc three of Pretenders II and like Pretenders, S/T it meets all expectations, and the bargain of the century box set wise as import CD has each for $30. The SQ, content and booklet, like the first box are all superb. In conclusion I’ll also add that all three discs are likewise pristine, scratch-free and as such sound much better than knowing in my minds eye there are any blemishes at all. (This music collection obsession is a serious and insidious disease when it gets taken to this level. )
Her book was excellent. Then it does just stop abruptly which is a shame because you're prepped for the main years and it's over as if there was a second volume to follow at some point. Still a great read though so don't let that stop you. This is interesting news. I hadn't realized there was going to be a new reissue. I've been tempted to get the Edsel of the S/T just for the extras but knew the sound quality was crud. To date I still really like the original LP pressing most of all in spite of the long sides. I hope one day to find an original UK copy with the timtom mastering that is on certain copies. In spite of this not having the DVD material the reviews so far are encouraging. I see there's apparently a 24/96 hirez download option as well according to Discogs.
I love Loose Screw and would much prefer a vinyl release of this album than the constant revisiting of the first four albums.
So if I'm keeping up with the posts on the "Kid" Remix, it's only available on the CD single that My Echo My Shadow And Me posted. I'm not interested in the "Extended Remix", just the remix of the LP/Single version. Is that all correct? Thanks
