OOP in the States doesn't = not in stock. Certainly not in stock at amazon (except for marketplace priced well above MSRP). Cool that you were able to get it at B&N.com. bestbuy.com also appears to have it in stock although $10 more than B&N, but several other places I checked are out. One would think Warner would do another run but with the way sales of physical media are and current global climate, who knows? I think they did a great job on this set so if you're on the fence about buying it, I recommend you move sooner rather than later.
I had been thinking I would pick up this set if it appears in a sale. However I noticed that it seems to be more and more difficult to purchase at a reasonable price. So I decided to pick up the one copy left in my local HMV for £59.99. In fact when I got to the counter they told me that it should have been £84.99 but obviously they had to sell it to me at the price it was marked at. Listening to it now and not regretting the purchase.
Oh, I know that, but I thought prior posts implied that no online US retailers had it. I went with B&N because I had about $50 on a gift card! I didn't look to see if anyone else still had it!
Yeah, I had held off on the set with the hopes it'd drop in price ala the GnR "Appetite" set or other boxes. When it became clear that wasn't gonna happen - and when Amazon ran out - I figured I'd better get while the getting's good!
They have them in stock? Mmmm may have to p]order one. Mine got badly damaged. We have a new puppy. My fault.
Same, chewed up my OK Computer box last year! Thankfully Radiohead’s website sent me a replacement box (not the contents) free of charge. Called my dog “naughty”.
My late beloved Biscuits gnawed the corners of the Stones' "40 Licks" box in 2002 - and she wasn't even a puppy anymore! She was a good 18 months old at the time!
Nah - Bisc was cool with the Stones! My girl Oatmeal wasn't wild about harder-rocking music, but Bisc was a rocker pup!
I snagged the CD box from ImportCDs.com for $40.00. It was on backorder for a few days, but shipped on Friday.
The box set is a great buy - the vault disks still are getting regular rotation in my home and the tracks themselves are fresh sounding and in my opinion are right up there with Prince's official album canon in that decade The remaster of the actual 1999 album itself is a classy one too in my opinion, really well done
Our dog chewed up (a bit) our electronic thermometer a couple of hours ago. True story. (I'm giving her a pass, on this one -- but if she goes after the music collection -- well, then, we're going to have an issue...)
Like all puppies, my Putty gnawed on inappropriate items through her puppy days. This included power cords, which seemed like a bad idea. When other methods of dissuasion didn't work, I got a bottle of sour apple spray intended to make the items taste bad so the dog will stop chewing. Before I used the spray, Putty ceased any and all inappropriate chewing. It's like she knew the spray was coming and stopped before I used it. I think she did it so I would've wasted my money. "You spent $10 to stop me from chewing? Joke's on you, loser!"
Could it be that they are not repressing anything because they will have to delete it anyway next year? I wonder what Sony will do when they get the rights, will they just repress their versions of the releases that Warner have done?
That's a really interesting question, and I wonder what say the Prince estate will have on such considerations?
Got my copy Friday - nice set! Smaller than I expected - I thought it'd be more like the LP-sized boxes, not CD-sized!
