It was given away to people that pre-ordered CB. So it could be considered part of the package...it’s a stretch but I am looking for excuses to buy this again.
I'll just be happy to have Calhoun Square, What's My Name, etc. on vinyl....Disc 2 of Crystal Ball smokes!!
Oh well. If the 'source' was wrong about the announcement date, then hopefully they are also wrong in saying that it will not be remastered.
Yes, CB = Crystal Ball Although I have not seen anything yet that convinced me this announcement was more than a rumor so I am still taking it with a grain of salt. I do hope that it gets a remaster, whatever occurs
Since it was only ever releleased on CD originally, if there is now a release on vinyl that will by default be a remaster (how the mastering is done is another matter). None of the post-'95 albums Sony have done so far have included any bonuses, it would be surprising if they started now. Many of the previous releases had non-album material surrounding them that could have been included.
This must be the longest time between releases Surprised there nothing released as they know there is Money to be make off Prince
Wouldn’t be surprised if this is either being delayed due to COVID, or if they want to push it back to tie it into RSD.
I don’t think it would be an RSD release (at least an exclusive one; maybe a limited, at most). But I’m seeing more and more labels releasing reissues the Friday before RSD so that those releases are in record stores in order to take advantage of the crowds that are there for it.
I guess it might be more likely we hear something after March as they seem really focused on celebrating 3121
Sorry, I'm very late to the party, but are the albums outside of SOTT, Purple Rain, and 1999 remasters as well?
No worries, I appreciate the response. So have all the 2019-2021 re-releases by Sony been remastered or are any simply re-releases. Trying to make sure I don't need to actually repurchase albums like 3121 and Planet Earth if there's no difference but I'm not seeing much info on the net besides the fact that they are re-releases.
Ah...Crystal Ball. One of the most brickwalled releases I've ever heard. Come on everyone, remastering is a marketing tool so of course it will be remastered. My personal prediction is that we'll see a Black Friday release of the 10 minute version of Gett Off, which will part make up for me missing out on Gilbert Davidson selling off remaining sealed copies of the promo 12" of that version on eBay in Jan/Feb 2016. With copies being $60 from my recollection, I honestly thought it was too good to be true and that it was a counterfeit copy. Stupid me.
