It's hard to read in the photo, but it says "Radio Station Copy" at the top.

Nice! But how do I look at it and tell its a promo?

Not so much different catalogue numbers, just an extra couple of letters, "JB", added to denote Jukebox status. (I'll admit the Zappa-style song titles sent me over to You Tube for a quick listen...:))

Bob Dylan: Street-Legal. U.S. white label promo LP with timing strip and gold promo stamp on sleeve. Inner picture sleeve is as per the stock release. Hand etched matrix on Side 1, stamped matrix on Side 2. Does the "P" prefix on both matrices denotes a Pitman pressing?

I always thought that PC 1 on the label was for Promotional Copy 1 but I could be totally wrong and it is actually Peter Collins initials. I also believe that they could have been using it as a deluxe business card (A expensive one at that!) with Peter Collins Artist Management and telephone number been used on the label while promoting Bernie, they only got 500 copies pressed to distribute and wasn’t sold to the public to my knowledge!

The promo with the catalogue number MCJB 5213 I got in the mid 80’s but I only found and purchased MCS 5213 last year, I am still the only one with it on Discogs!

I am more use to seen different label designs especially from America on promotional 7” singles but that’s because of different pressing plants around America producing the same promotional single using their own layout for the label.

Bob Dylan: Blonde On Blonde U.S. Mono Radio Station Copy, with timing strips. 1966. The sleeve is a bit the worse for wear but the records are in good shape.

Prob more of a collector item than a promo.
    Still cool though.

CBS were so desperate for Mick to have a hit they did TWO separate promos.

Bob Dylan: Hard Rain. U.S. white label promo album with grey inner sleeve and timing strip and gold "Demonstration - Not For Sale" stamp on jacket. Hand-etched matrix on Side One, machine-stamped on Side Two. It may not be unusual, I suppose, but this record has never been played. By anyone. Ever. Not even me. A birthday gift from someone I don't know living in California. For a moment, when I opened the unexpected package, I was speechless.

In case anyone has similar ideas, let me just say that I never refuse birthday gifts from people I don't know... especially if they are un-played WLPs. :)

Never know how to tell on a JPN release, that it is a promo.
    They confuse me.
