I left one of those behind on open shelves in a store once before I knew what it was. I noticed it but didn't bite. Been kicking myself ever since...

I wonder why this style promo label came in both pink and white? Maybe pink was earlier?

One of my Top 10 albums in any genre, I own a lot of variations of this but the Promo eluded me for a long time. Grail no more!

I think Decca had both gray and pink label promos. Not sure about the rhyme or reason of it. At one point IIRC I had both the stereo and mono promos of that How a Heartache Begins Patsy Cline LP. The mono label was gray, and the stereo pink.

Pink definitely was used on the 1950s Decca promos. I'll try to dig one up...

    Bob Dylan - "Bob Dylan"
    U.S. Columbia Promotional LP .. Early Six-Eye Promotional label .. MONO (1962).

This is my commercial stock STEREO six-eye...
I realize this is not a promo, but it is one of the rarest
Dylan originals. Note: label difference .. (1962)
The reason the Columbia "six-eye" label is so very
rare, it was changed just two months after Dylan's first release.

Maybe pressing plant specific? I know with later releases some plants used white labels and others stock color with promo lingo for the same title.

Unless I missed one, I'm surprised not to see any with those spiral timings. Warner/Reprise was notorious for those.

Mostly not that uncommon or rare, except for the Point of Know Return. This one was not known to exist for a long time. It's "Advance Promotion", so I think radio stations actually got regular label copies. Every PONR jacket with a timing strip I've seen had a regular issue label.

I once got a stack of white label promos, still sealed, from a dealer at a flea market. They all had "Factory Sealed" stickers taped over the words "Promotional Copy - Not For Sale." Many were new releases being sold for half price or as low as $1.00. One was Harry Chapin's Legends of the Lost and Found. It skipped like crazy. I ended up replacing it with a copy on the red Elektra label.

Been collecting 45 years. I do not lie. This is the first ever promo KC U.S. 45.
