    NO BRASS! For me, anyway......
Either way, I don't think Crystal Blue Persuasion is a psych song.

That was NOT a Billboard chart hit!

I guess this is where a LONG list of Psych songs will now get randomly posted until the thread is exhausted.

I don't think Kenny Rogers was a "country artist" when he was in the First Edition. He was a pop artist. He recorded songs that had tinges of whatever style was around then. "Ruby" has slight country overtones, but "Something's Burning" really doesn't.

Oops. You are right. I need to read a bit closer. :)

Then again, there is a lot of stuff in this thread that I really don't see as psychadelic music. ;)

But I'll delete the post. ;)

Mmmm...never thought of that as psychedelic, but I guess it could be...one song I've been thinking about as a maybe is "25 or 6 to 4" by Chicago.

The First Edition tried a "Just Dropped In" rehash on the second album but it wasn't a hit. Other tracks on their first three albums were in the sunshine pop style. Last track on the third album was "Ruby" and when it became a big hit they became "Kenny Rogers and the First Edition" and dropped the psych/sunshine material.

Yeah! I wonder if one has to include wheezy Vox organ and fuzz guitar in order to be psychedelic!
The Chicago tune "25 Or 6 To 4" certainly doesn't have either. But the lyrics are kinda borderline psych!

I'm one of those "big tent" people when it comes to psych songs...so for me, yes it is.

Not going to get into the "is it psych" argument, that could go on and on. I do think it's worth arguing if something was a hit or not.

For me, a hit is any song that made the Billboard top 40 or its UK equivalent.
