Either way I dont care for that too much. Whats it supposed to do again? Lower surface noise?

I sold mine a while back so I don’t remember. I think that was mostly marketing anyway.

No, it effects how the stylus tracks across the LP....supposedly.
I thought you asked about the difference?

Yeah sound wise. My 200g SVP Zepp records are noisier than my 180g ones, with consistency, although some are more lucky than me it seems.

OK, pulled out my 200 and checked Discogs.
Seems they made the lighter weight one, doesn't seem to have the SVP profile.
    Then a 200 SVP.
    And a Handmade 200 SVP.

Classic Records pressings were mostly awful. The mastering was good but the pressings sucked.
    Good riddance.

No they weren’t “mostly” awful pressings. The opposite in fact...they were “mostly” very good pressings.

True. The A1/B1/C1/D1 UK Quadrophenia is the best I have I have heard. The German orig. is also very nice.

The word 'mostly' should not have been used, but their 200's had a unusually high percentage of "visually flawed" pressings.
To the point where Classic offered a hand selected option, at an additional cost, to inspect for flaws.
The ones labeled "Hand Made" seemed to be of higher quality... possibly due to the smaller runs on that press?

What about the new 2015 remaster..... Is that worth looking at. Has anybody here got a copy of that, how does it fair?

I know Michael Fremer sang high praises of the Tommy reissue, just curious if the Quad reissue is in the same league.

I find it odd MoFi never did a Quadrophenia vinyl issue. I could perhaps dream about a One Step Quadrophenia Box Set. What is the condition and or status on the original Quadrophenia tapes, does anyone know?

Oh yes! But because of the way this album flows, I would rather AP UHQR go after this title, because I would think trying to cut this on to 45RPM vinyl, would be very hard to do. As for now, I am more than content with my UK first pressing of this monumental album!

I do like the way you think!

stay completely away from the Classics Quadrophenia

unless you want to buy mine

it is mud city and a mid 70s US copy sounds better
my friend found the same situation
By Numbers is better you bet
Zeppelin, Gabriel, CSNY etc CLassics hard to beat

UK Track first pressing is explosive
how The WHo were meant to sound
    and did live

track down first press Live at Leeds

    both worth every penny

Well, the old MFSL got the CD license in 1991 and they were pretty much out of the vinyl business at that time (they didn’t get back into vinyl until ‘93 or so). It’s possible after the negotations for the CD, they didn’t think they could get the vinyl license or they couldn’t recover their costs on a pricey 2-LP 200g Anadisc even if they could. It was the mid-90s after all - the depths of the vinyl dark ages.

Can speak for the 200g - I’ve had a few copies over the years though never a 1st - the 200g is solid but best of luck finding one.

This is plain wrong advice. Classic 200 gram Tommy is also fine. A bit different than original Track in both cases but still a top choice. If you have both I can assure you it's down to preference. Both Classic 200 gram SVP and Track pressings (mint) are a highly enjoyable listen.
