Its called a studio production vs a live performance,a live performance is here and gone while a studio production sticks around long after the band or artist is gone so it stands to reason that if they have the talent and ability they would want to make it the best they can, again I'm talking about the progressive bands and not the standard three chord, maybe four rock bands.

I get what you mean and it has a history from bands in past who were such poor musicians they had to get others to play their parts to today where we have people who can't sing being assisted by technology to convince people they actually have talent apart from what they look like....talk about pretending.

I don't know all Queens albums yet. I've heard roughly half of them, mostly the ones from before the mid 80s.

I do like this one. This thread reminds me, I need another copy of it. :)

The only backing tape Queen ever did at concerts was the middle part of Bohemian Rhapsody. Other than that, they might have used one for th middle part of Get Down Make Love, which wasn’t played much at all throughout their career.

Of course Queen is bombastic - that's what makes them Queen!

Bombastic and pretentious don't mean the same thing.

I recently found an UK original pressing in great condition and I agree- the music is excellent but the sound is unfortunately not so good. Which vinyl pressing of this album is considered to be the best sounding?

I never hear complaints about US copies, maybe Japan or Dutch? I'd try anything other than early U.K.

Sheer Heart Attack displays Queen ability to explore various musical genres from heavy rock to pop to borderline cabaret over the course of an album that is very cohesive from start to finish. The twists and turns that the music takes over the course of the album make sense

    Queen are special to me.
I have a special connection with Freddie Mercury. When I was a kid I had some overbite because the two large teeth on front and some other kids made fun of me. Then I discovered that man with larger teeth than me who is confident and a great star loved by millions. One of the coolest man in the world. That gave courage to accept myself

It’s a fine record and, to my ears, the last decent record they made.

    Yes, then no! :)

But you have a cool Thelonious Monk avatar and name, so I pay my respect.

The next two aren't even decent in your mind...? That's odd.

Really odd. I hope I never close up on an act in their pure prime and fail to notice some peak period song craft and thrilling production values.

Of course I’m serious. Those records just aren’t for me. Why is that a problem for you?
