    mpayan A Tad Rolled Off

When I say stronger, I think the workings of the cast of Resevoir Dogs together gel perfectly. Not as much for Pulp. Also, yeah, I think Michael Madsen and Lawrence Teirney fill the spots and roles they play without being cartoonish in nature. Travolta, gave a good comeback, Ill give him that much. But I dont care how many roles he is given. Hes not a class A actor in my book. Lawrence is. And so is Michael. Harvey had very little onscreen time in Pulp. Another class A actor. A bit part really.

Hey, I still enjoy Pulp from time to time. Its a kicker. But I dont take it seriously. Dogs, on the other hand, is a lowdown bloody mess. Yet, a really good film that I dont feel like Im being "pop cultured" into the cement on.

Jackie Brown showed a glimmer of his ability to succeed with a 'straight' screenplay, although the story adaptation was not very well done.

What did you like most about Death Proof?

  4. I thought Death Proof was awful. I would put your bottom three just below Pulp Fiction.

I think Death Proof might be his best, to be honest.

    All 10/10
    Pulp Fiction
    Reservoir Dogs
    Kill Bill 1&2
    The Hateful Eight

    Jackie Brown 8.5

All the rest a 7/10 rating.

  7. Really? I thought it was interesting in the beginning but after the first twenty minutes or so it settled into cliched territory that we've seen before without the ironic element that makes his films worthwhile. IMHO.

I used to work in radio in Austin, TX in the 70s and 80s and all
the "cute" air-headedness at the beginning of Death Proof had no
'novelty appeal' for me. Tarantino is pretty much incapable of
writing halfway convincing dialog for his female characters.

  10. After the first one, I had no desire to watch the second one.

Jackie Brown for me, although I haven't seen all his films.

To pick Pulp Fiction, which I would, and then feel bad about leaving out the others that are very close in calibur, really says a lot about the quality of his films, doesn't it? Wow. Very hard to choose one.

Found Hateful Eight fascinating in a Quinten kind of way, but not even close to his very best films. Still glad to own the DVD, however. He has a real knack for acquiring the right actors!

Not bad for a 50 year old soundtrack.

Was the song originally written for a movie long ago? If so, what film?

I rate True Romance better than some later QT movies ( TR /QT script).

    Jackie Brown.

It is his least popular film, which blows my mind.

Pulp has some of the greatest moments of his entire career & the scenes with Trovolta & Sam L are absolutely perfect. Such great writing on that one. I wasn't too crazy about most of the Bruce Willis scenes but that Chris Walken scene seals it as one of the greatest films of all time imo.

Reservo Dogs has a great cast & arguably the greatest chemistry of all his films. The story itself was incredible on its own, & it continues to get more & more intriguing as the movie progresses.

Inglorious Bastards & Django are right up there as well, mainly because Leo & Waltz bring their A game. Their performances are easily my favorites of all his movies & their characters are two of the greatest movie villains ever.

Is it true he's retiring after his next film?
