Looks like REL updated their T series, replacing Ti with Tx

More about new looks from what I gather, as they don't give much detail about the 'upgrades'. But I really like the looks! More muscular and especially the grilles look much better (not that I would use those grilles :D).

Sometimes I think mfgs. make a new 'improved 'model to raise the price lol
    The x is $150 more.
If you're looking I bet you can find an Ti series on sale.

The difference look minor and cosmetic

So I literally just purchased a T7i, not even installed in my system.
    Now this news drops, sigh.

But in my favour, I did get the T7i on 20% discount.

    Specs are quite similar:

    - Both 200 watts each (conservative), but T7x apparently has slight amp improvement
    - Same sized drivers in each, though again T7x apparently has slight materials improvement
    - Different shaped cabinets, T7i narrower, taller with sharp cabinet edge, T7x wider, shallower with curved edges
    - T7x has a small volume increment over T7i
    - T7i -6db at 30Hz, T7x -6db at 31Hz

There is price jump for the T7x. Not sure how much, one YouTube reviewer said 30% over the old model.

In a blind test would I notice the difference? Probably not.
Do I have remorse? Just a bit, not a lot, but a bit.
But I have money in my pocket, I suppose I could buy more music and get on with life.

I think T7x may be a tad more robust for Home Theater (just a guess based on previous Rel trickle down), but I think most of the change is in the cosmetics (again just a guess).

I suspect T7 to T7i was a bigger performance jump than T7i to T7x. To be determined.

Yeah I see it as a chance to get another T7i on the cheap for a two sub setup.
Doubt the differences are anything worth writing home about

Run out prices will be in effect, they are in my neck of the woods. So yes, go ahead whilst discounting is in effect.

I was not sure why at the time, but now I understand why I got a discount (basically getting rid of stock).

Tx 30% price increase over Ti ? That's huge !!! Get a Ti while you can, don't bother with Tx :D!

Don’t quote me on 30%, that came from a UK YouTube review.

Was debating this, and I just pulled the trigger on a pair of discounted T/7i's on the REL site. i think i might have just gotten the last two black ones in stock.

There will be no audible difference between the x and the i. You will love this pair.

I love my t5/i. I paid $600 for it about 6 months ago.
The t5/x is $679. It has rounded corners. I have no remorse for "missing out" on the X.

REL says, "Slightly larger in volume than its predecessor, it actually appears to be smaller due subtle design changes to minimize it’s visual presence." This is a ridiculous statement. It is bigger, but looks smaller because of rounded edges? Okay, REL.

Ok, so the price difference is not 30%.

That pretty much echoes my experience, adding the 2nd T5i definitely took it to the next level.

I rewatched the “Pursuit of Perfect System” review. He quotes UK prices, T9i was $999 (pounds) and T9x is $1,299 (pounds). About 30%.

For UK folks that is not an insubstantial price increment. US folks appear to be hit less hard.

Ok, installation done, new speakers/stands, amps and subwoofer.

    - Triangle Titus EZ in piano black (purchased near half price + relatively efficient)
    - Solidsteel SS6 stand filled with Atabites
    - Rel T7i in matching piano black
    - Audiolab 6000a amp + dac (only 50 watts, but matches well with efficient Triangles)
    - Marantz NR1510 for home theater (using Audiolab passthrough for fronts)

    Not properly setup yet.
Just using bog standard 11:45-12 o'clock for gain/xover & .1 (probably not right).
    Proper setup later.
Sound is not unreasonable with those settings for now.

Triangle & REL both sound a bit closed in at the moment, I take that is because they are so brand spanking new, woofer need time and movement to free up (I assume).

Very happy with the aesthetics and initial sound.

Is it just me or is the REL indicator light really bright?

I added two pieces of Lightdim stickers over the top of the light and now it is about 20% of the brightness of before. Much better.

It will get so much louder as you break it in. Enjoy!

    Thanks.

2019 Hi-Fi World review of the Triangle Titus EZ noted about 50 hours break-in needed.

So I will do the same with the REL. Try and get 50 hours in and then do the REL recommended integration strategy (e.g Sneakers track).

congrats, nice room and system ! FYI 50 hours is a gross under estimate but things will sound better, just not their best. It's OK to tune everything at that point but you will need to revisit a couple times up to and beyond 200 hrs.

Totally agree. I run a pair of T7is and I didn’t even consider upgrading to the T7X. The differences seem very minor, and I prefer the square corners to the new rounded corners.
