Lisa Gerritsen is still around, but she too was in only about 10-12 episodes.

There is an article in The Toronto Star online regarding an anonymous donor who gave $500 to the Guelph Humane Society on the name of Ms. White.

On this day especially, I know who I’m thinking of.

I hope other Members are thinking the same.

The NY Times wrote; "All it took to reinvigorate a 35-year-old comedy show was the presence of an 88-year-old woman. (...) With her, the show had its highest ratings in a year and a half (...)"

Last photo, from December 21. Sounds like her stroke was on Christmas day.

This was taken on Dec 20th (same sessions as the pictures) and was shown for her documentary that aired in theaters. Not the best quality, but this unfortunately confirms what we all knew but didn't want to believe (especially with her PR team saying she was doing fine but the rumor mill saying that she was slowly going downhill). You could tell she had taken a turn for the worse in the three years she'd been out of the public eye and it sounded like she mustered up a lot of strength to speak. Nevertheless, the lady was 99 and 11 months old, much further along than many of us could ever hope to live to, and even with mere days left to live and with an obvious weight loss and with age taking its toll on her, she still gave her 100% for the fans.

There is another 30 second clip where she thanks the fans for all the years and ends with "keep going".

I've been watching more Golden Girls episodes since she died than I ever did before, which was quite a bit anyway lol, but now knowing Betty's dead her performance seems even more poignant somehow.

Who remembers this short-lived 1983 NBC game show, that she hosted? It ran for just 65 episodes, from January 3 to April 1, 1983.

Vaguely but I probably watched just a few before I bailed. I pretty much ditched game shoes in the 80s. She also got an Emmy for that show.
