May Nichelle Nichols rest in peace.

I like all 6 Star Trek feature films with The Original Crew, 5 I've seen at movie theaters around their respective release dates, II-VI between 1982-1991, then also every episode originating from 1966-1969 either on syndicated TV, VHS & DVD that began for me circa 1986 plus two 1990's PC games!

Nichelle Nichols was very classy & humble. She played Uhuru so well that if she wasn't on a Star Trek episode, you knew it. RIP Nichelle & thank you.

In case anyone here didn't know, Nichelle Nichols recorded a vocal version of the Star Trek theme.

One very interesting non Star Trek appearance was in Roddenberry’s previous series “The Lieutenant” about the Marine Corps…in the controversial episode “To Set it Right” dealing with racial problems…which the USMC and NBC didn’t like

Nichelle's 1994 autobiography, Beyond Uhura, was one of the first published books that started revealing the sexual harassment that went on in Hollywood during the 1960s (and continues in various forms to this day). She admitted that she had to submit to certain "favors," visiting Gene in his hideaway apartment a few blocks away from Paramount, in order to secure her job. Nichelle was uncommonly nice to fans and I met her at least a half-dozen times at conventions, and had lunch with her and 3 or 4 of the other cast members back in 1975 through my old pal John Ellis. She was as gracious, funny, and interesting as we had hoped, just a really beautiful, terrific lady.

She broke barriers and set examples for those who followed. She also was stunningly beautiful. Once you saw her, you did not forget her. May she rest in peace.

Sad...feel like I've her all my life. That Star Trek crew were family to me, as I was a rabid fan as a kid....and now I think all of the bridge crew are gone except Sulu and Kirk.

RIP Nichelle...keep your communication line open and keep on enlightening !
