I’m a huge Fixx fan. RIP Mr Hine

  2. I like what he did as a producer for Rush and Suzanne Vega. I still have to check out his own music one day.

Had a huge impact on Howard Jones best ever album Humans Lib.
He seemed to be a huge influence on Howard.
I think he produced the album also.

In addition, Hine recorded eleven albums, including those billed under his own name, the pseudo-band name Thinkman, and as a member of the band Quantum Jump.

A great artist. Sad to see him go. Somewhere I have a phone interview with him I have done nothing with.

RIP, great producer as already mentioned by others. I also have one of his albums on CD, the quirky Waving not Drowning that has a some good songs on it. Will play it tonight.

Always thought this was a very underrated album and track. Great production by Mr. Hine.

Massive Rush fan....but his work on Suzanne Vega’s Songs in Red and Grey is how I’ll remember him - his work there is superb.

So sorry to hear this. The man was everywhere in production for quite a while, but I really loved his first solo album:

Hines’ fondness for treble chafed me a bit; but, I respected and admired the creative aspect of his work, particularly his knack for pop hooks. He produced some outstanding records, including several personal favorites – Camel’s I Can See Your House From Here, Saga’s Worlds Apart and Rush’s Roll The Bones.

Also heard of him being a quality dude and well-liked. This came through in his brief appearance on "Beyond The Lighted Stage" (Rush documentary).

Saddened by his passing. The man, and his talents, will be missed. But his legacy lives on – play it loud (with a pinch of bass, if you please)!
