Radiohead's "Kid A" Turns 20--Anniversary Set Speculation and Discussion

I'm still thoroughly enjoying my "Kid A 2020 Bupkis Edition" (i.e., the original CD).

 

After having so much fun going through those hours of minidiscs from a few years back, I hope the Kid A/Amnesiac deluxe whatever edition is more hefty than OKNOTOK, feels like they've been talking about doing it for so long that it'd feel kind of silly to just have it be a remaster + 2nd disc with 2 or 3 unreleased tracks and the rest padded out with already released b-sides or a live set or something.

 

I really hope so. It would make the most sense

We need a 10 disc Kid A/Amnesiac boxset. I see these gargantuan sets for less worthy artists and albums; this would be warranted!

 

I would totally be down for a combined Kid A/Amnesiac set. Radiohead is one of the only artists that I will spring for when it comes to that kind of stuff.

They're not even trying to hide their upcoming plans at this point - Spin With A Grin was the name of a section on their site from around the Kid A era!

 

And ever notice the vinyl releases only come in 2 colours max, never more than that?

Yeah, the Tik Tok thing has to be leading to something more interesting than a live gig stream, I agree.

 

Yeah, just another way to get into the collective consciousness before they (most likely) release their Kid Amnesiac thingy and (hopefully) tour this winter.

Then maybe that gets the wheels moving for lp10!

I'm still holding out hope that this fall will bring us a release celebrating Kid A and Amnesiac with some bonus material, or perhaps it's simply one album of outtakes/bonus material and not a reissue box set of both records. With no new Radiohead on the horizon in 2021, it would certainly make for a nice "stop-gap" release for the band

 

An album or two of all bonus material would be ideal IMO. I love how both albums sound and they’re easy to find. We don’t need a remaster or a reissue, really. I just want the extras!

 

Totally agree It could be presented as its own entity in a way, an alternate view of those sessions, with Stanley Donwood artwork from that time, too.

The TikToks keep coming. Now they have the Minotaur from amnesiac as the background. The hashtags on recent posts are phrases from the hidden Kid A booklet. Someone in this thread said their friend at Beggars told them there’s a reissue box coming:

I think there's roughly a 0.0% chance of it happening, but man oh man would I love to see them include a 5.1 mixed sacd in this...

Please a Kid A/Amnesiac box with unreleased stuff in 2021, and a new studio album in 2022. Please and thank you.

Some kind of "new" album made from alternate versions and a few outtakes/unreleased songs in a brand new running order as a double album, that would be my ideal release to celebrate Kid A/Amnesiac. They can reissue the original albums separately as well of course.
