Well, I've been listening to Queen for six hours straight, now, on Spotify. So I'd say the film was a success!
Also, is this the first mainstream movie to specific reference stereo panning? It's mentioned when they are mixing Seven Seas of Rhye, if I'm recalling correctly.
The film will be out on physical home video (including 4K) on February 12th: 'Bohemian Rhapsody' Home Video Release Date, Packaging Revealed
Bought and streamed it last night. Loved it even more the second time. This will get a lot of repeat viewings.
I'll just leave this Youtube find here (not my work, for anyone curious). Not really related to the movie proper but I figure all the Queen fans in Visual Arts are here, so...
The microphony has been digitally edited out of the original footage and the audio is largely from the BBC FM broadcast with a few substitutions from the DVD mix to eliminate "feedback and technical issues". The description of the video mentions this and I added the info in a quote in my post.
Watched the film a while ago and liked it...……. will catch it again later. I don't everything about their history so any inaccuracies didn't worry me. But after enjoying it ………..it did encourage me to make a [previously never done?] version of their Kampuchea 1979 gig...……..which I can't recall being mentioned in the film. Video from several VHS sources but synched to an excellent audience recording. It's a lot smoother than the other badly put together efforts.
Sorry, I've never heard the term microphony before. I just found CM's video via a YouTube search. Outstanding! Had to rip it. Thanks for the tip!
When you commented, it had made 600 million. Now it's at 817 million. It's done, and is still doing incredibly well.
To be clear, my comments were about how the film was still doing in the US, not worldwide. It's made roughly $12 million in January, which is pretty good, but it remains outside of the top 10 in the US, so it's not like it continues to be a big draw...
That's just the U.S though. It's made most of it's money outside of that country. It continues to be a big draw worldwide.
Again, my comments intended solely to discuss how it was doing in the US, as I thought the remarks about how it was "still going strong" meant in the States. I looked and saw the SHFite in question doesn't list a location, so he might live outside of the US. Thought the remarks implied US, but I might be wrong. Anyway, that's all I was discussing: the movie's continued performance in the US...
Yes, but it's a worldwide movie, and we're talking on the worldwide web. There's no point in limiting it to the U.S. only.
I don’t know. Maybe it’s not gangbusters anymore here in the US but I sure do hear a lot of folks discusseing it still and seeing it for multiple times here. Big crowd pleaser.
Interesting that twice in a row John Reid is played by the actors from The Game of Thrones. I hope he doesn't get killed in the end.
