    Yes it is :shake:
I'm guessing this photo was taken at the time of the 64 NME awards, where Saville was the MC for the show. He introduces Murray the K, who then introduces the Beatles. I'm going to have to reburn my bootleg of the concert to omit Saville's comments altogether.

  13. Great picture! In the USA, did those kinds of billboard, used for rock music, existed only in L.A. and New York, where the Majors' HQ resided?

Actually, those kinds of billboards are almost unique to LA... I was given a book just a couple days ago that's a record of photos of billboards along Sunset Strip which is where the clubs were and this is typical. Apparently they really weren't used for advertising as much as for supporting artists when they were in town, and are a bit of an art form unto themselves:

Looks like a cool book although I can't stand photographs that span two pages.

On another note, did you notice the article about the Beatles Penises being defaced?

Nashville used to have a huge billboard type stage over by "music row" (where most of the studios were - Broadway at 16th at West End.) Usually, if not always, the billboard would feature an artist's newest release at double height. Sometimes the artists would hold a small concert from the front of the stage with the billboard picture serving as a back drop. I never managed to catch one, but I imagine it caused massive traffic back-ups.

Any other member from Nashville probably has more info. on this.

for years there was a billboard at the Y-intersection of Broadway & West End,facing Broadway when coming from Downtown.
it usually had music-biz advertising.i haven't noticed if it's still there.this is just a short distance from the "lower" end of Music Row,where the roundabout is now located.
