1. Benefit 2. Aqualung 3. Too Old to Rock'n'Roll My guilty pleasure is Broadsword. Can anyone comment on SW remix of Too Old... love what he has done with other two but not heard this yet.
Nothing guilty about Broadsword, Too Old To Rock 'n' Roll on the other hand.... As of SW mix it's more complicated than usual. Some of the multitracks were mixing, so he only remixed 5 tracks of original album. In my opinion he did very good job, I was never fan of original mix. But they also included 1976 TV Special of re-recorded album (also remixed by SW). It's different from original album, more raw and punchy, interesting to listen and compare.
That's about it right there though these 3 revolve in order for me. I'd move SftW to No. 1 followed by TAAB and then Aqualung mostly for the poor misty, mostly muffled recording. On another note, as with the below comment, SW's treatments to Too Old To Rock 'n' Roll became the first time I was truly able to revel in the vision of that singular mindset of an album. It's an acquired taste for sure but the SW treatment makes it so punchy and listenable.
Very good! I really quite like Under Wraps although I can see why others don't but I've never got my head around Too Old's bad reputation. Love it, personally.
I like all 3, but they would never make my top 3 list. And I agree with you regarding Too Old -love that one
I think Jethro Tull recorded 6 great albums and several very good albums.....and just a couple duds. 1. Aqualung 2. Songs From The Woods 3. Stand Up 4. Minstrel In The Gallery 5. A Passion Play 6. Heavy Horses Bottom 3: 1. Under Wraps 2. "A" 3. Too Old to Rock and Roll
Updating my entry. Personal Top Tier: 1) Songs from the Wood 2) Thick as a Brick 3) Benefit Very Close 4ths) Stand Up, Aqualung. Mid grade Tull (still in regular rotation, just not top tier.): This Was,War Child, Living in the Past, Heavy Horses, Minstrel in the Gallery, Too Old to Rock and Roll..., A Passion Play <-------- In this order descending.... The bottom: Stormwatch, Dot Com, Broadsword, Under Wraps, Crest Of A Knave, Catfish, Chateau, A, Xmas etc.
- A Passion Play - Benefit - Aqualung (from Cross Eyed Mary to the end) sick of title track. several great tunes on Too Old to R'n'R even though there are some stinkers too.
Aqualung Stand Up Songs from the Wood Damn. I can't just pick three, so I'll pick six. Thick as a Brick Minstrel in the Gallery Living in the Past
Aqualung War Child Stand Up I love others too, but these tend to be my go tos and if I could only ever listen to one Tull album again it would be Aqualung, but they have a great body of work.
