SOME FINAL THOUGHTS:
- Which album has the most entries within the Top 10? That would be The White Album with 3.
- Which album has the most entries within the Top 20? That would also be The White Album with 5.
- That said, I'm thinking that the results show that Magical Mystery Tour may be my top album. All five entries come within the Top 23!
- So you still think that Sgt Pepper's isn't all that? Au contraire! When all is said and done, the album still has the most entries (on average) of any Beatles album (7).
- I thought I liked Beatles For Sale. And I do. Yet the album has no entries in The Top 50.
- And what is going on with A Hard Day's Night? Granted, the US Soundtrack would have been better served here. Yet only the title track makes my Top 50.
- Sometimes albums just "are what they are". Let It Be remains an album where, for me, it is mainly Paul's two eternal gems then "all the rest".
- The Beatles are proof that singles should never be automatically dismissed. Interestingly, for as legendary as they were for helping to make the album "the" new musical artform in their time, many of their greatest songs were still the singles (and their accompanying B sides). As the listing above shows, this was true even post 1966!

 

That happened to me last night! What to do, now??? Start over?? Ugh!

 

I was worried that the sorting tool was simply gonna shut my down halfway through with a message saying: You have no taste! Go do something else!

For better or worse, probably worse, I can safely guess that the sorter never seen a Top 20 remotely close to mine...

 

I was really looking forward to seeing my results because I’ve had a “definitive” standing top ten for the last twenty years or so. Maybe I’ll take the hour + tomorrow and just redo it.

I'm all for to each his own and one likes what one likes and all that jazz...but there's something hideously wrong here.

 

In my list, IWTHYH came out at 1, and MSH at 188.

I guess we all hear things differently.

 

I've started this from scratch twice over now. I wasn't happy with the way I was answering too quickly, not actually taking enough time to consider which song I actually preferred in every single case. I'm going to start it over once again, this time taking my time to make each choice properly. I may be a few weeks….

 

And by the way, I'm pretty sure what song is going to be my #1, but I have no idea what's going to come in last (not unless I include the Anthology songs, in which case the answer is "If You've Got Trouble").

 

Yes. I have done so as well. I was surprised how closely mine were echoed!

 

Lol...Well, mine wasn't too far off. I have Maxwell at #30 and I Want To Hold Your Hand at #153!

Of course, I'm one of these crazy people that simply "judges" songs on the ones I enjoy more and find more craft/replay value in. If I were asked to rank The Beatles most significant songs, the places of those two would be drastically flip-flopped!

 

I never knew there was such animosity toward Act Naturally. I like it because I enjoy hearing Paul backup Ringo on vocals.

 

I wouldn't call it provocation or a con.

It can be a difficult listen, though... Certainly not the most tune-ful track of their collective career...

But, hey, man, everybody's got their favorites!

 

Much too country corny for me. By far my least favourite Beatles song.

 

There's a lot of animosity for lots of Beatles songs here that don't seem to translate into the world I live in.
I think it's a great recording of a good song. Good guitar work.

 

I certainly don't run to it but I prefer it to the sloppy Matchbox. Whenever I hear Act Naturally I think of the great, tight '65 Sullivan performance if it. It was their best performed song of the night; watching Ringo keep that rock solid beat (his hi hat consistency is amazing) as he did the lead vocal is very impressive.

 

That was quite a chore. And it wasn't even accurate. "Babys In Black" should be top 10. Maybe even top 5. "Im only Sleeping" should be higher. The rest seems mostly reasonable. The ones I hate are where they belong.

It was a pretty accurate reflection of my faves and a definitely accurate last place, I can’t stand the song. Probably the only Beatles song I dislike. I think I’ll have another go and like some above put more time and thought into it. I have a broken right wrist and I’m right handed, I did the ranking on my iPad and it was very uncomfortable. First World issues

 

That's a great top five...and two of your bottom five are also in my bottom five: Taste of Honey and You Know My name...in fact the former, is at the very bottom of my list both here and in my mind's list. So this was fun...predictably, my devised top ten that I've stuck to for over two decades, didn't match exactly (but six of the songs are in both* top tens so that's pretty good)...but here's how it went for my top ten..

...so far as I'm concerned this is, overall pretty close because the songs which aren't in my personal list would very likely end up in my top 25, overall. The one glaring oddity here though is I Want To Hold Your hand which is all the way down at 133 on the SORTER list while my list has it at number one. Either way, fun fun stuff.

 

That is odd (in regards to "I Want To Hold Your Hand"). I think it was #153 on mine so we almost have it in the same place! For me, that's about right though (I respect the significance of the song but it isn't my favorite Beatles track from a listening standpoint). But I wonder if some songs just get "lost in the sorter" somehow.

 

I think a few, must. On my list, Penny Lane is at number two. Not even in the top ten on SORTER.
