I had the preconception a was not going to like it for many reasons. So I've watched it being completely biased against it. I do prefer the original though but this turn out quite a decent movie for me.
Well, Tom Cruise was not so corny as Gene Barry in the original but the remake was not as satisfying to me. Too much time on extended fight and flight scenes. When Tom Cruise seems to be the only one with a gun in hundreds of Americans trying to catch the ferry I laughed. Eventually one other guy with a gun easily deals with Tom.
A Stolen Life (1946) starring Bette Davis as twin sisters (it's not a silly story as that might sound) and Glenn Ford. This was better to me a couple or more years ago. I still find it decent. 6/10
Superman The Movie - 6/10 OK, but a little to silly in spots Royal Wedding - 8/10 Exellent later day Astaire Thor, Love and Thunder - 3/10 My least favorite Marvel movie
Aftersun - 9/10 Decision to Leave - 8/10 Lift to the Scaffold/Gallows - 8/10 Third Man - 9/10 Three Colours Red - 9/10
The Thing From Another World (1951) Primitive science fiction film about an alien (James Arness) who lands on earth and wreaks some havoc at a U.S. North Pole outpost. Despite knowing no one else in the cast, and primitive (at best!) special effects, it was an okay story. 6/10
Is it ever! You know a lot of those Stallone/Arnold movies have those stupid catch phrases but " You're da disease and I'm da cure" is the worst of the bunch.
Shucks, I like COBRA! I know it isn't anything like 'High Art', but I've always liked it. BRIAN THOMPSON is a very nasty 'bad guy'. "Crime is a disease. Meet The Cure!". Remember the scene where Sly cuts himself a piece of pizza with some scissors? Yowza!
I give it a 0/0... an embarrassment...my least favorite THOR...it should not have even been allowed to use the name...pitiful, sad and the future is now.
Haha, well I gave it a 2 rather than a 0 'cos at least it was ridiculously funny enough for me to watch it to the finish. Oh, and I like the Mercury car, so I gave it an extra point for that.
I'm always amazed when a big budget picture this bad gets released. It seemes like there would be any number of steps along the way that would allow someone in the loop to sound an alarm.
Who is going to sound the alarm on a picture that will gross 750 million dollars? The bottom line is all that matters.
Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday (Unrated) 3.5/5 Jason X 4/5 Wild At Heart 5/5 Fright Night (original) 4.5/5
Worth, 2020. It was good but it felt like it was a bit of a skim. Some of the issues were a bit heavy handed, like they were inserting a modern ethos into the past. It did take me back and made me remember a few things that are important. It sure doesn't seem like 22 years ago now. 4
