Oh, yeah, I saw a bunch of 480i and 720p versions on YouTube for free, sure. Even a colorized version! I've turned into a PQ snob. I can't help it now.
Signs I still really enjoy this film, though I suspect it's mostly due to the superb performances by the cast. This is my favorite of M. Night Shamolan's films. I think it was all downhill after this. I remember seeing it in the theater during a sneak preview event and people were screaming in terror. Good times.
All the Beauty and the Bloodshed I don't know if it's my blue collar background or what, but I absolutely hated this documentary. I found the subjects to be egotistical, self-important, misguided, aging degenerate hippies looking for their last grasp of the limelight. The kind of people that make every wrong lifestyle choice and blame it on society, instead of themselves. No one described in this documentary every seems like they were ever happy, except for a few fleeting moments that were drug induced before their romances turned sour or the drugs began to overpower them. Yet they defend their lifestyle choices with baffling resolve despite their misery. Trying to shed light on the opiate crisis is a noble cause, but their myopic hyper-fixation on one aspect of that problem (the Sackler family) makes it seem petty, and their aforementioned pretentious self-righteous condescension is absolutely insufferable. The arrogance in this picture is just unbelievable. 1/5
Jesus Revolution, a very well acted true story. Kelsey Grammer gives a very good, understated performance as Rev. Chuck Smith. It’s been doing remarkably well at the box office, opening in the Top 3 and staying in the Top 10.
I watched 'Disturbia' last night. Probably aimed more at teens than my age group. I thought it was OK as a mindless late-night flick.
Synchronic (on Neflix) A moderately interesting B-movie time travel thing. Let down by the totally bland Anthony Mackie.
Luther 7/10 Entertaining and Cynthia Ervino is always a joy to watch. This is one those movies to watch just for the entertainment value and nothing more. You won't be disappointed if you go into it knowing that.
Willy's Wonderland (2021) - horror comedy with Nic Cage (who doesn't speak the entire movie) fighting possessed animatronics from a kiddie themed restaurant. Pretty fun. Also has great character actress Beth Grant. I give it a solid 7/10.
I was really looking forward to a great Alien movie after being disappointed with 'Alien 3'. 'Resurrection' wasn't it. The worst of the first four by far.
He has made some bad movies but I wasn't damning Signs with faint praise. I have seen almost all, if not all the versions of War of the Worlds and Signs is one of the better ones. I like how personal Shyamalan makes this invasion of Earth.
Army Of One... why did Cage use such a horribly annoying voice? my wife walked I stayed and will give it a 1/10 just for the miserable voice alone that pretty much killed the move... The True Story of Gary Faulkner, the Man Who Hunted Osama bin Laden and Inspired Nic Cage's 'Army of One'
Signs is a pretty good film, with one tragic flaw. I'm sure you've heard it: Spoiler: These aliens are f ucking idiots Why does an alien race who dies from water land on a planet that is 71% water? In fact, there's water in the air we breathe. Humans are 60% water! Jesus wept.
