Yes, I know all of that. It’s just that it was at that point in the film when my interest started to wane. I wasn’t blaming it on the Cody character.
The Host (2006 ) it was a blast, such a dense movie on many levels, King Kong meets Soylent Green ! 9/10
Great review! One of the best! Thankfully there is subjectivity, where there is no "right" nor "wrong." Let it shine. It's what creates healthy and fun dialog when talking about film.
That was one I liked along with Barabbas, starring Anthony Quinn. it's been decades since I've watched either.
"A Good Person" at the cinema this afternoon. Thought provoking, enjoyable film. Morgan Freeman, as always was superb as was Florence Pugh. In addition the soundtrack was excellent and a perfect fit for the film. 9/10.
Do it! Those camera angles are to die for. The closeups, the Gene Kelly sword fights, the horse riding. Lana Turner! You know, Robert Planck was nominated for an Oscar for his cinematography for this film, losing to Joe Valentine for Joan of Arc (1948). I own both films, and I think they gave it to Joe because he was pretty much on his death bed when Joan of Arc was released. It's not as good as Planck's work.
I watched Godfather 2 in 4k. The movie is 10/10 of course. But I expected it to be razor sharp, naively perhaps. Little bit disappointed with that.
John Wick 4 8/10 Went in expecting a lot of nonsense action/killing. Well I got 3 hours nonstop of it....
The Lost King (2023) What a wonderful story! A woman in England sets out to find the burial site of Richard III. Somehow I missed this story entirely when it actually happened a decade ago. Sally Hawkins does a fabulous job in the lead role. Steve Coogan co-wrote the screenplay and also does a very good job in the more minor role of the woman’s husband. 9/10
We finished our 62 epi Breaking Bad binge (over 16 days) last night, still itching for more BB action so we called up El Camino. 8/10, a movie that's definitely a worthy addition to the BB universe FTR, not our first BB binge rodeo
1917. Sensational cinematography and interesting one-shot camera style.. A bit too long. So-so acting. 7.5/10.
"My Sailor, My Love" at the cinema today - 8/10 My Sailor, My Love review – woman on the verge in drama of male cruelty
I used to be heavily involved in a history forum, there was a gal that was adamantly a supporter of Richard. She denied all of the known history as slander and belonged to a Richard III society of some kind. She was in England herself. She was on the forum for years and wrote many articles expressing her views and damning other views. She began writing a book, allegedly proving all of the history as slander etc. She had a publishing deal and a time for publication all ready. She was very proud of it. Nice lady too. BUT THEN- yep they found his body and yes he HAD the spinal deformity that she denied. She just disappeared from the forum without a comment. I imagine the book was cancelled.
