I had this one sitting in my shopping cart at Collector's Choice for a while (sale price!), and when it came time to bite the bullet, it was sold out!
So now, I just borrow it from my local library once every few months until I find a copy of my own.

    I did the same thing.

Fortunately I snapped up a copy on Ebay not long after that for not much more than list price. It's surprising how high the prices on some of these discs have gone over the past three years. I'm glad I snagged most of what I wanted before the prices started to skyrocket. I'd have to earn A LOT more money to consider paying the prices that many of these titles go for now.

The 2-track CD of WISH YOU WERE HERE is a perfect example of an item that only commands high prices among collectors, often only among collectors here at SH.tv. It's highly doubtful that a used record store would put a sticker price on one of these that would come anywhere near the prices these fetch, even if the store new the desirability of the disc, as only many of us would pay that much.

The original Japan for Japan 35DP-4 2 track cd version is very hard to find even in Japan and would certainly garner a lot of attention from collectors who don't know about SH.tv.

I would agree with your point in regards to the Japan for USA CBS version that uses the same mastering though. I would think that most of the people bidding this version up on ebay are SH.tv members.

Besides the collectability, is this truly that much better then the BB GV Box, Made In USA, and The Best of Beach Boys, all highly regarded here ? I just paid $35.00 for all 3 on EBAY this week. I don't know I guess it's like anything else, if you can afford it, and want it, buy it. I just personally draw the line at around that $50.00 -60.00 range on anything LP or Cd. I found that EBAY ad the first day it was listed by accident, but never thought it would go that high.

Wayne, if it's anything even close to the sound of the DCC Gold CD's then yes, definitely better.

The Best Of The Beach Boys is great for the mono tracks and decently mastered, but the DCC Gold's are better with Steve's mastering.

Time to look on the bright side. That latest copy on eBay sold for only $137.50, that's a big reduction. A couple more $50 drops in price and I'll be able to afford one!

Plus, this one was sealed. I'm not sure the last one was.

I know. It's comical when using ebay search and notification functions is compared to copying from "the smart kid" in school. I continue to be amazed at the delusions this hobby brings to the surface.

Ah yes. Bingo. Just by the mere existence of this forum without any ads posted, I am informed of who the mastering genius' are and which versions are the best to buy. It's half of what is talked about at this site. The idea of drawing a line in the sand and banning posting of auctions is arbitrary and ridiculous and speaks very poorly of this forum as a whole.

If it's so tough to find these auctions and so much "homework" is needed, then surely the majority of auctions go unnoticed.

Are people still taught in life that you can't have everything and that this is okay?

So please explain who is helped by posting on the whole forum? If it's so easy then there is no need to tell anyone, right?

What's comical is that some people actually think they're doing something that is a net positive by doing this.

This auction's been over for eleven days.

Why don't we all just move on.
