Resurrecting the dead here, but the album everyone lovingly refers to as "Welcome to Sky Valley" was actually meant to be labeled only as "KYUSS" (self titled). Just my $.02 worth.
One of my favorites from the last few years ... Lightning at the Door by All Them Witches. Already too many mentions by me (as you can see in the search below, I didn't realize it was so many) but just wanted to get my name permanently attached to another stoner rock thread http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/search/27364175/?q=all+them+witches&o=relevance&c[user][0]=2324
Looking forward to getting my hands on the debut Lucifer album. Garry Jennings from Cathedral continues his mega Sabbath worship with female fronted vocals. I'm thinking it will outdo the Blue Pills
I've been listening a lot to the new debut from King Buffalo called Orion, and it does have a similar sound to those great records from All Them Witches, who they have toured with on a few occasions, but you feel them developing their own personality as the layers unfold. It's been out for a couple months in digital, but just got a physical release yesterday on CD and vinyl... bound to wind up on my best of the year list, and probably a few others too. Only a year, just sleeping, not dead yet And while I'm here, I should say that the last All Them Witches record which came out at the end of last year is pretty incredible too, Dying Surfer Meets His Maker, easily one of the best of last year, and since it came out so late in the year, and I didn't get the vinyl until January, it's one of the best this year too!
Since the subject has been revived, I thought I'd mention Bloody Hammers. I just grabbed their newest "Lovely Sort Of Death" yesterday. Not posting the cover due to forum guidelines. I also like their previous release "Under Satan's Sun" as well. Not that familiar with their other two earlier releases.
Witch Mountain's South of Salem was mentioned above but all three albums with Uta Plotkin are exceptional: South of Salem, Cauldron of the Wild, Mobile of Angels. They are issued on both vinyl and CD. Unfortunately Uta left after Mobile of Angels. Mobile of Angels Witch Mt with Uta
Horisont might be more retro than stoner, but man, their last studio album "Odyssey" is really, really good! The title track is a 10 minute tour de force that sounds a lot like classic Uriah Heep.
Henry Rollins on Stoner Rock...Sleep, Earth, Electric Wizard, Sunn O))), etc. Henry Rollins: I Am a Stoner at Heart
Looking back on those days here's a few I vaguely recall (mentioned previously) James Gang Rides Again Grand Funk (Red album) Zep IV Free, Fire and Water Amon Duul and Atomic Rooster Early Moody Blues
