If you end up in West Michigan, the Corner Record Store in Grand Rapids is great.

It looks small from the street but it's actually quite expansive, you can get a good look of the interior from the photos on Google maps. It's a continuation of a shop called The Exclusive Company, which used to have several locations in the Midwest.

A bunch of good stores in Indianapolis:

    Irvington Vinyl
    Luna Music
    Indy CD & Vinyl

The Vinyl Rescue Project is also good in nearby Greenwood.

If you get to Evansville, IN, Atmosphere Collectibles is good and Back Beats is a fun little shop in nearby New Harmony, IN.

Exclusive shut down some time ago. It was a small Wisconsin chain. They did have really nice stores and were on-line also. I'm familiar with them, liked the Oshkosh store the best.

How great that you are planning your next visit to the USA! Here are some recommendations for record stores in your chosen states:
    Illinois:
    Reckless Records (Chicago)
    Dusty Groove (Chicago)
    Laurie's Planet of Sound (Chicago)
    Wisconsin:
    Strictly Discs (Madison)
    B-Side Records (Madison)
    Rush-Mor Records (Milwaukee)
These stores offer a wide selection of records in a variety of genres, including alternative, metal, punk, rock and blues. I hope you find something interesting in them for your collection

If you're in Lansing, MI I recommend Flat, Black and Circular.
