Thanks for posting this. Makes me think I might purchase another as a Christmas/birthday gift to a fellow devotee. $19.98 is a real bargain!

Ok, well "bizarre" is admittedly my term as I recalled reading what was said about the song. I suppose I embellished that a bit. I didn't mean to imply that they didn't like the song, just that it was an odd arrangement. Sorry about that chief...

I did say "I suspect," which was in no way meant to be conclusive. Interestingly, the working title of 'Back Street Mirror' was 'Without You.'
Indigo got that information from me. I assure you that Einarson did, in fact, use the word "bizarre" to describe the song.

The word bizarre was used on a few occasions, including an interview with Richie Unterberger that I refer to and quote in this post from 2009. Unfortunately, I can't find the original source; it no longer appears to be online.

Thanks for the link. So the 'bizarre' reference wasn't in either of the books but in an Einarson interview. Presumably, not in any Rogan interview though.

No, Rogan did not say it—Indigo mentioned Rogan, not I—and it was not in either author’s book, but as I’ve proven, Einarson did make the comment on more than one occasion. I do hope that clears it up for you now.

Thanks for the clarification. I envy you for having heard the Gene Clark Sings For You. Having read about the recordings in two books and seeing various online comments I can't wait to finally hear the music and purchase the CD next month.

Well, from what snippets I’ve heard of the restored versions, I think it’s safe to say it’ll be new to me too!

I’m spinning #365 as I type this. Outstanding release with top-notch mastering, pressing, and liner notes!

    Bring on more Gene!

    Cheers.
It was my biggest disappointment on RSD to find out no copies had made it to England.

  19. This is a fun pop folk rock collection. He really pushes the Dylan voice like extensions at times. Doesn’t he ?

Finally got my hands on a copy (no.758) here in Tokyo!:goodie:
Won't be able to play it immediately, but just reading the sleeve notes has got me all revved up and ready to go.
It looks a fine package, so compliments to @Clarkophile and @indigo_m for their work, too.
