I don’t even remember alien covenant because I have no idea what it was about[/QUOTE]
I had to be reminded that James Franco was in it.

I like a few of Kevin Smith's movies like Mallrats, Chasing Amy and Dogma. After a while you get tired of his schtick. His View Askew universe is quite limited. Jay and Silent Bob get old after a while. Ironically that was the name of his podcast. I don't care for any of his new films. Yoga Hosers was a dreadful movie. I think in the beginning Smith showed a lot of promise but he peaked in the mid-2000's. I wasn't surprised to find out that he smokes a lot of weed. But I am surprised that film companies still allow him make movies because a lot of his new films have bombed at the box office.

Would it be easier to just say most modern movies that were successful at the box office?

Wow. Scorsese finally gets around to making a film about gangsters. What a bold new direction. :sigh:

I thought that was interesting myself, and the old gangs all here.

Scorsese: Listen guys, we beat the Italian thing to death.

Here is our chance to get a fresh new start.

Your not going to have to really master any new acting skills.

I've already got this new thing figured out.

You are going to continue things just as before, except now your going to be Irish gangsters, capiche?

I couldn't stand AVATAR! I thought the color was ugly.

There are plenty of modern movies that are not a disappointment.
Being disappointed in a movie does not mean the movie was terrible.
Most of the disappointment in my listed movies stems from being socially or politically trampled by the message, or the story being just too much for the viewers to take for granted...."A Quiet Place" I'm looking at you with this last part.

About 80% of them. It must be the modern Hollywood aesthetic that I don't like.

Among the films that were released the past decade, i.e., 2010s, these films didn't match upto my expectations and, some were rather were disappointing despite the popularity or wide appreciation.

Souvenir (I was majorly disappointed with this, had lot of expectations)
Ad Astra (hmm.. somewhere the story fell flat)
A Marriage Story (*shrugs* Not a bad film though. )
The Grand Budapest Hotel ( I may have to re-watch, it felt beautiful only in cinematography)
Frances Ha (Honestly, felt a little turned off sometimes)
Holy Motors (Maybe good, but didn't click with me)
    Blue Valentine (depressing, really depressing)

I saw Wim Wenders’ Wings of Desire when it came out and it was such a beautiful movie. Along came the Hollywood remake the City of Angel and what a pile of crap. The ending was funny as hell though. How can Hollywood start with such a perfect source material and ruin it? Disappointed. What other classic film Hollywood ruin? Swept Away?

    The Darjeeling Unlimited.
Loved Bottle Rocket and Rushmore. Amused by some of Royal Tenenbaums. Liked a few bits in Life Aquatic.

    Darjeeling
was the first Anderson flick I hated start to to finish. That still continues with every new film of his I've had to endure.

I hated the first 20 minutes of Darjeeling so much I stopped watching it and never went back. Anderson is very hit or miss with me.

I had moderately high expectations going into the movie, and I did enjoy the movie but I was left with the feeling that it should have been much better than it was considering that they didn't have to rush to get the movie out.

I'm pretty picky about what I go out for so I usually vet things a bit, and no super heroes allowed. Therefore I don't get disappointed a lot. A lot I stream at home later and therein comes some disappointment. I remember quickly checking out of Prometheus, The Master, Midsommer, The Tree of Life, Holy Motors.

I tend to avoid super-hero movies for the most part. Not because I don't enjoy superheroes but I'm a comic book reader and what I see on the screen tends to pale compared to what I've read in the comic book pages.

That makes sense to me. I haven't read them in a long time but I used to dig em. Movies just don't match what you create in your own mind with comics.
