I think this was covered in one of the "sniping" threads but I couldn't find it. Basically if the auction I'm interested in hasn't met the reserve price yet... when I snipe, would my snipe bid only beat the highest bidder (and stay below the reserve), or will my snipe bid extend out to cover the reserve price?

I'm pretty sure it will extend out, but I just wanted to be sure.

    Thanks ~ David

    David,

Your highest bid is your highest bid. If it doesn't meet the reserve you won't win it. Ebay will only proxy bid to your highest bid and not beyond :) Hope that answers it for you.

If your snipe bid exceeds the reserve price it will extend - if it does not it will beat the current highest bidder (or rather their current highest proxy bid) by one bid increment.

    All the best - Andrew
