You're not wrong, but I believe slane was discussing a particular tabs book that wrote it out that way. As anybody that has this immense tome knows, those books can be really hit or miss, particularly from a number of years ago.
Yea, it is a good thing to be able to read about it but it’s like reading a description of a painting without seeing it.
And the powers that be responded https://www.beatlesbible.com/1966/08/14/klue-radio-texas-is-struck-by-lightning/ The day after it organized a public burning of The Beatles’ music and memorabilia, radio station KLUE of Longview, Texas was struck by lightning. The lightning bolt hit the station’s transmission tower, destroying broadcast equipment and knocking unconscious the news director. KLUE remained off-air for some time afterwards.
But I think we’re making two different points. I agree and totally understand with what you’re saying far as why they may *prefer* us not to hear scrapped or working versions. But they should have the insight to understand why, as lifelong dedicated fans, we’re very lovingly interested.
I think it was the only time he had his second 12-string Rick out on that tour was for that one song!
I always think that Billy Joel put it so well on one of the tracks on “Glass Houses”: “There’s a new band in town But you can’t hear the sound in a story in a magazine…”
Anyone know how many of George's songs were ever performed live by the group? I was thinking about this while watching Get Back the other day.
It's stuck in my head when George switches guitars and Paul's introducing the song in Tokyo, George didn't turn down the volume on his amp, and you hear that loud series of noises and slight squeal as he's changing over!
I think it was only If I Needed Someone actually. I can't think of any others offhand (apart from those written for him or covers such as Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby etc).
Yes, it’s impossible to describe the sense of wonder a new Beatles album held back in the original era when they were coming out in order and everything was new and fresh and they were not ripped off by other bands the last 50 years. But I see your point and agree with you. I’ve mentioned several times here over the years that although no band is the “New Beatles”, Radiohead is the closest to the new Beatles for ME. Probably like you think also , Radiohead is one of the few bands that I get really excited about when a new album is on the way, and there is that sense of wonder and adventure listening to each new album because they don’t release new albums that sound essentially like all of their other ones, like some bands d0.
