Another brick in the wall, I'm afraid. Both guys I deal with in publicity had their e-mails bounce back to me moments ago.

A good chunk of my CD collection comprises Rhino reissues.

It goes to show - The music industry has entered the Dark Ages.

A sad state of affairs. Now what are we going to do?

I'm not happy about the death of Rhino either, but in all fairness, I've read more complaints about their products than praise from members here. Where were all the Rhino lovers in the latest Chicago thread? Or the Yes remasters?

Sad to see the name put to bed, but Rhino's been dead for a long time now. :sigh:

    Wow. Very sad.

Rhino introduced its Canadian website just a few weeks ago.

    http://www.rhinorecords.ca

I saw a television commercial for it just a couple of hours ago.

If Rhino's really dying they went out with a bang with the Big Star boxed set.

Not everything they did was golden but they are the ones who raised the bar in regards to how music was reissued.

RIp Rhino, and I beg to differ with the people saying Rhino has been dead for a while- I just got the LA Nuggets set yesterday and it's fantastic. It's a pity I will no longer be able to get reissues like this, and fantastic sets like the Handmade Tiny Tim & Lee Hazlewood collections...

It's the end of the world as we know it. I have always held out hope that one little corner of the music business would not be taken over by pinheads and bean counters. Rhino was that hope.

Very sad news indeed.:( If it wasn't for the great people at Rhino, I would have never discovered the Monkees or discovered so many other great artists. We also would have never heard so much rare or previously unreleased music!

Thanks to everyone at Rhino for so many years of great music and releases. Their hard work and dedication will never be forgotten.

'Manassas Pieces' was, apparently. This was a massive layoff, but the label - at least according to people who work there - still exists.

Very sad news indeed. From the mid 80s through the late 90s, I would seek out whatever Rhino had to offer. I still thank them (and Gary Stewart, in particular) for letting me compile and annotate on a Melanie comp for them.

I have yet to see a single report that Rhino is shutting down.

I'm glad I got those Alice Cooper cds recently...whew.

  21. I had noticed tons of Rhino merchandise being dumped as cut-outs and slashed barcode product in the past few months. It would not surprise me to see many things go out of print, if not their entire catalog.

Along with any more Bee Gees expanded/remasters, until Warner Music Group's license expires in 2016.
