Here lies the hidden reality to today's limited pressings. "Limited to 2000 pressed on colored vinyl". They just don't tell you that they plan to release six colors over eight years with each having the same mastering. They have us chasing our tales. Every label now does it, but Rhino and Sundazed have perfected it.

Yeah that RSD pressing was a bust. Ear-bleeding for sure.

I have the pink RSD pressing from 2014 and it doesn’t have the full length version of “ Sweet Jane” with the “heavenly wine and roses” bridge.

According to this thread the Rocktober gold has the full length version.
Best sounding Vinyl pressing of The Velvet Underground’s Loaded

Are you SURE? I had the RSD and I definitely remember it having the full length version of “Sweet Jane” — mine had RM in the deadwax - cut by Ron McMaster?

I could be misremembering, though. I didn’t keep it for very long.

I have that, and it does. It also sounds much better than the RSD exclusive splatter vinyl version from a few years back, even if that one does look cooler.

Looking on Discogs, the signature in the deadwax of the gold LP seems to match the pink EU pressing from RSD 2014.

I’m almost positive my copy doesn’t have the full length version. I’ll check tonight.

This is the one I have: The Velvet Underground - Loaded I believe it was hard to read what is in the dead wax because of the color of the vinyl.

I could definitely been wrong. It’s been quite a while since I heard it.

That’s the copy I had too but mine just looked more like streaked grey marbled. All the colors kinda mixed up.

Just checked my version and I was right it is the shorter (original) version. It clocks in at about 3:15 just as the label states.

Says Made in US on the label and it looks to me like “RL” in the dead wax.

Ok - sorry bout that. Didn’t mean to spread false information. That signature is Ron McMaster’s.

Ha. It does look like more like an L than an M on the other side, though.

I picked up a red vinyl copy of “Ooh La La” yesterday and the sound quality of this release is unreal. One of the best-sounding records I my collection - I was pretty stunned by its excellence.

I just picked it up today.....and I agree 100%....just amazing. Is that pulled from the boxset and do the others sound as good.

Did I read that 'First Step' is also available seperate from the box?

"First Step" is available separately on orange vinyl, IIRC. I've been considering buying that one for a long time.

I was going to ask the same question - do the separate coloured vinyl editions share the same mastering as the AAA ones in the box set, i.e. have they used the same stampers?
