Divisive times call for divisive thread titles.

If I owned a record store a bus full of drunken collectors showed up, I'd be a bit fearful about how they handle the LPs. "WHOAH!! Just dropped another one!!" :sigh:

They had one of these in Rochester, NY a little while back. My buddy, who owns one of the record stores on the crawl, sold over $1000 of stuff in the 45 minutes that the bus was parked there...

retail will soon be devoid of solo browsing and will be completely built around "the experience".

introverted, jaded Generation Xers aren't welcome apparently.

younger generations drown their sorrows in alcohol, while we did the same with sardonic wit and a "reality bites" perspective.

we had 'dive' bars, not hipster microbrew pubs!

the generation coming into money now WILL buy things, but only if there hip peers are doing so also.

Thus, get them together in groups - offer them drink. the cash registers (iPads?) will ring!

I was thinking about both issues. You lose a platter or two to inventory shrinkage but the impulse buys! I am a rationalization mastermind after a few drinks. Ask Jeff Bezos.

I have an idea for the OP. Why not find out their itinerary, and just give one of the attendees $5 to pick up the exclusive records for you?

Given that they've paid ~$60 for the ride (and the gift bag, and the souvenir t-shirt, yadda yadda) they might take you up on it.

I mean, this is basically what my friends and I always do on Record Store Day as it is, and often an odd one-off Saturday here and there. Don't need a coach bus or a ticket, either. YMMV.

Bar crawl/record store crawl sounds like good times to me but where I live they are too spread out.

Now that I think about it, they do sell draft beer at the flea market, and there are 3 record stores at the flea market. I could get a crawl going. Grab some corn dogs and make it a party... I'm a degenerate, just not a Bud Light at 9AM kind of degenerate.

Isn't the shopping like Record Store Day? Everybody chasing the same records.
