This will actually be the third attempt at filming this story over the years. The second was THE CURSE with Wil Wheaton in 1987.

I don't know, this looks like a M Night/Stephen King colab. and not in a good way....if there was a good way

My first experience of Richard Stanley actually came via Marillion. He directed a 50-60m film to accompany their Brave album. The record is stunning but I recall being somewhat underwhelmed by the visuals.

I'm sure there are plenty of other connections between Marillion and Nicholas Cage out there :)

I can't believe I missed this announcement. I can't believe that my writer-director-producer buddy Frank Woodward has broke bread with Mr. Stanley and is FaceBook friends with the man. Oh boy, a new Richard Stanley movie. Can ya tell I'm a fan. I already bought a ticket for the Philadelphia show. I had almost given up hope that he would get to direct a feature film again. Fingers crossed that the sound quality will be up there with the impact of Dust Devil's Dolby Spectral Recording. The big question is do I support The Ritz, the old Philadelphia art house theater or do I hike north to the AMC Neshaminy? I'm guessing that the AMC will have better sound.

Really looking forward to this. Nic and Lovecraft is hopefully a good combo. Just saw Primal, Nic's exploitation entry for 2019 (or at least one of them). It's ridiculous of course, but it's kinda fun. I would put it somewhere in the middle of the Nic-O-Meter. High hopes for this one though.

The movie is screening at the Cinema 21 in Portland on the 22nd.

According to The Ritz Theater on FaceBook, "there will be an advance screening on 1/22 and then it will open for a full run on 1/24." Maybe they're doing a similar rollout in other markets.

It's wonderful to read that his career is turning around.

no, that's not bad at all. I meant that in a good way. It's a big state and Portland is the place to go for a night out. I'm in the mountains and the closest store is about 40 mins.

I've traveled further to see 70mm prints; Spartacus, 2001 and Dolby Cinema / Atmos shows of La-La Land and Rogue 1 with my children. Consider it an event. Buying the Blu-ray is one thing but the bean counters only want to know what the theatrical gross is if they're going to give Mr. Stanley another film. I want vote at the box office with my cash.

Let's not forget the "Raft" in Creepshow 2.

Carpenter's "The Thing" comes pretty close.

Wacky, but I was happy to plunk down my $9. The pacing was a bit off. Stanley wasn't able to bring the sense of dread that Dust Devil had. The television series Chernobyl was better at making smoke and light scary. I'm still glad that Mr. Stanley was given the director's chair and budget and look forward to his next effort.

I enjoyed it. It had some creative scenes that were pretty rough and unexpected. The only thing that threw me off a little was Cage's accent or whatever the heck he was doing. If you dig horror movies, it's definitely worth checking out.

Really enjoyed this. A strange mix of cosmic/body horror and weird comedy moments that worked for me. Glad to have seen it in the theater, although the clown a few rows in front of me who kept checking his social media the first 45 minutes needed to fall down the well in the front yard, if you know what I mean.
