RIP cartoonist Sam Gross.

You might not know the name, but you'll definitely recognize the style.

RIP. His Mew Uorker cartoons were always funny with a dark undercurrent of comment on humanity.

 

I believe it was from Playboy...

 

It was in National Lampoon, and at one point, they sold knock off Polo shirts, with a little embroidered amputee frog.

 

The guy was absolutely brilliant. Gross, B. Kliban, and Gary Larsen are about as good as it gets for wacky one-panel cartoon gags. But even they would admit that Charles Addams was the guy they all admired the most.

 

I'm more of a Gahan Wilson guy...

Also a genius, a hall-of-fame "weird-comic" guy.
