Not sure if anyone posted Paul McCartney's thoughts about Chuck. Here is what Paul said:

Chuck Berry sadly passed away over the weekend. He was one of rock 'n' roll's greatest poets. He will be missed but remembered by everyone who ever loved rock 'n' roll.

"From the first minute we heard the great guitar intro to ‘Sweet Little Sixteen’ we became fans of the great Chuck Berry. His stories were more like poems than lyrics – the likes of ‘Johnny B Goode’ or ‘Maybellene’. To us he was a magician making music that was exotic yet normal at the same time. We learnt so many things from him which led us into a dream world of rock ‘n’ roll music.

"Chuck was and is forever more one of rock ‘n’ roll’s greatest legends all over the world. I was privileged to meet him in his home town St Louis when I played there on tour and it’s a memory I will cherish forever. It’s not really possible to sum up what he meant to all us young guys growing up in Liverpool but I can give it a try.

    Long live rock ‘n’ roll!

    Love you Chuck.

Saw Chuck Berry at a summer outdoor festival.
A friend of mine was a blues, rock, fan and amateur photographer.
He used black and white film. All pre dig. stuff, developed film, quality stuff.
Had real good b&w collection of intimate blues, jazz artist photos.
Chuck caught him clicking away. Chuck pointed at him and stopped playing.
Made a big hash out of it and said either he goes or I go.
My acquaintance was quickly hustled out of there unceremoniously as Chuck watched from the stage.
After he was hustled out of the small summer amphitheater, Chuck carefully watching, then Chuck resumed the show.

I was shocked to see the front page coverage of Chuck Berry in Sunday's Los Angeles Times, including a photo from his infamous concert at the Hollywood Palladium on March 22, 1980. Standing dead center, at the front of the stage... my girlfriend & I rocking out!

(This was his first performance after being released from jail on tax charges)

For those of you who are wondering, the album has been in the works since the early 2000s.

What's the context for this image? Where's it from? I gather it's in reference to the gold records that was put on the Voyager space probe?

  23. This nearly brought a tear. From one legend to another, everybody owed Chuck a dept that could never be repaid:

From a SNL skit. When the aliens found what we shot into space this was their reply. I've been looking for the skit online but haven't found it.
