I remember him more from when he was one of the WMCA good guys. I think he did the late morning show (10-1 or something)

"Harrison became program director at WPEO, Peoria and hosted the morning show as the "Morning Mayor of Peoria." In just six months, Harrison made WPEO the top station."

I live here and this is my first reading about him. I'll have to seek out some air airchecks.

Here's an interview about his time here:

RIP Harry, some of the greatest sounds on my transistor radio came from that station.

Absolutely. As a 6 or 7 year old back in 1965-6, he helped turn me into a lifelong Beatles fan, as well as a fan of Motown and all the other great music they used to play on 77-WABC AM...seems like 10 lifetimes ago now, but he and some of the other DJ's on that station (Dan Ingram, Ron Lundy, etc) really helped shape my musical frame of reference for the rest of my life in many ways.

This it what happens when I don't read the other posts before commenting. The writer-Harrison apparently died already in 2012.

Geez, I was just talking about him the other day with a friend - loved his daily quote "Every day should be unwrapped like a precious gift…that’s why they call it the Present".

If you lived in the NY Metro area in the 60s, he, Ron Lundy, Cousin Brucie and Dan Ingram on WABC were part of your everyday life. With his death, a part of our life shrinks.
