I have a few Criterion releases other than the most well known films; the camera work and lighting alone is interesting even in the most cryptic ones. I think he could be a good influence or a bad influence. He was a good influence on Barbara Loden! Masculin Féminin hasn't been mentioned I don't think... I think it deserves to be. Great '60s time capsule film. Sorry he felt he had to leave.
Always covering new territories...never afraid of trying, a true original if that still means something, RIP
1 PM (1968) Impressions of resistance and revolution in America, as shot on both coasts by visiting director Godard in the pivotal year of 1968, but not completed and not shown, after being taken over by D.A. Pennebaker, until three years later. (Featuring Eldridge Cleaver, Tom Hayden, Rip Torn, Jefferson Airplane)
R.I.P. Jean-Luc Godard He made quite a few enduring classics such as- Contempt, Alphaville, Vivre Sa Vie, Histoire(s) de Cinema, Weekend and Breathless.
I've always liked this slightly stoned interview with Godard. Apparently, Zach Galifanakias found inspiration from this to create " Between Two Ferns "- Godard makes a crack about Cavett's set design at one point in the interview.
