I wasn't expecting it. Amazing how long most of the original SNL and SCTV cast have lasted after a few early, untimely deaths in the '80s and '90s (Candy, Radner, Belushi, all died under age 45). Harold Ramis was the first main, original cast member of either show to die in his senior years. Now, I think Joe Flaherty is the second.

This might've been his most widely seen movie appearance:

Very sad news. "SCTV" is maybe my favorite TV show and Joe might've been my favorite of the bunch.

I remember seeing that introduction during that Rush show at the Hollywood Sportatorium. :) I was delighted.

He was so great. SCTV is something I still watch. I loved when he'd speak about it too. He seemed like a person with a real love of life in him.

    Sad to hear.

Rest well Joe. Thanks for all of the fun. I regret Martin Scorcese hasn't finished the doc and you could have your due recognition to a broader public.

    Oh no!
I loved Joe in SCTV. He is one of THE comedy greats in my book.

Although they were also great, I could never understand why many of his fellow SCTV cast mates went on to much more higher profile protects and recognition when Joe was so amazing to me.

Such a funny man with the perfect face to match. Even just seeing him briefly in a movie like Innerspace brings on an immediate, huge smile. RIP
