    Yup, the promoters were wise and far-sighted enough to secure themselves the publishing rights for the music and film footage shot at their festival. The subsequent movie (which hit the theatres in late March 1970) and the soundtrack album to that movie (released in August 1970 around the festival's 1st anniversary) was their payback.

    I've always thought it was remarkable he put the whole thing together when he was 25 years old. I couldn't remember to take out the garbage at that age.

    I remember when I first saw the Woodstock film as a kid he looked cooler & more photogenic than most of the rock stars.

    I worked on his Wikipedia page about a decade ago, and had an email exchange with him. Cool guy. The most interesting fact is that Woodstock was not the largest crowd that he did lighting for - that was Pope John Paul II.
