  7. How was he only 47-years-old in The Thing? He always seemed 85 to me.

    Rest well, Wilford.

Yes, the stress he experienced as a manual laborer and war hero early in his life definitely advanced his visible age. Hence the existence of the Brimley/Cocoon Line, which directly lampooned his appearance in that film versus celebrities who are willing to pay exorbitant amounts for surgical procedure to maintain their youth

I found the film "Absence of Malace" with Paul Newman and Sally Field to be pretty boring, with the exception of Wilfred's part near the end. Only reason to watch it, other than the opening titles.

The Grim Reaper waited this long because he was afraid to get a stern talking-to !

I loved that Seinfeld episode where he played the Postmaster General :)

R.I.P. to a great character actor.

I think of him any time I have Quaker Instant Oatmeal (which is fairly often in the winter months). I thought he was a great actor. RIP.

One of my all time favorite actors, and thought he was great in whatever role he played.
My favorite though is his role as the coach in "The Natural".
