We were working on "In the Line of Fire" ...
In the break room there was a plate of crab claws. The unspoken rule was food left on the table in the lunch room was there for whoever wanted to enjoy it.
My good friend Dino a man who loved all things sensory saw them, ate them and went back to his editing suite.
Fifteen minutes later there was a page in the overhead P.A. - "Wolfgang wants to know who ate his crab claws."
Dino hid from Wolfgang for the rest of the gig ...

We did the sound editing and design on a bunch of Wolfgang's shows. "Air Force One", "Outbreak", "Troy", "The Perfect Storm", his remix of "Das Boot" and others.
Great director with a wide variety of film. Nice guy too and that matters ...

Das Boot went beyond a typical movie - that was an experience.

RIP Wolfgang Peterson...an amazing director and 'Das Boot' is an incredible cinema experience back in the early 80's, and again he worked in variety of other projects in film. A great eye for details from the scripts too!

Thank you for all your creative and artistic gifts on film!

Rewatched In The Line Of Fire last week. My wife saw it for the first time. She liked it. I still do, too. :)

Das Boot is his masterpiece but those that were children in the 80's will always remember "The NeverEnding story".
I also enjoyed the heck out of Troy when I saw it on the big screen and its director's cut on Blu Ray.

    RIP Mr. Petersen

Even if Das Boot was the only film he ever made, that would have solidified him as a genius in my book. Really great body of work, and Das Boot will forever be the best submarine movie.

R.I.P. I really liked and still do like his movie Troy. "Boagrius . . ." That opening scene is just killer cinema . . . at least from the viewpoint of Boagrius.

With some exceptions, he had a real talent of doing very big, expensive movies that were also deeply interesting and artistically pleasing. That was an amazing career, and a brilliant body of work.

Das Boot and - while not perfect - NeverEnding Story are among my all-time favorites. Always enjoyed his work. (Well, I didn’t see Troy or Poseidon but…) RIP.

I'd break out Das Boot to celebrate but my copy's the mini-series version.

I remember seeing Air Force One when I was in college and thinking it was one of the most entertaining action/thriller films I'd seen in ages. I still think it's a great popcorn flick to this day and i give it a re-watch every few years.

I also really liked Outbreak, which seemed to have been somewhat forgotten but apparently had a big resurgence during the Covid pandemic. I've watched it numerous times over the years, including once during the lockdowns, which definitely added a new layer of creepiness to the film.
