Ritchie Blackmore's "Pictures of Home" solo - most technical guitar solo recorded up to that point?

    Technically, it's a matter of taste.

    Albert Lee wasn't playing any slower or less technical than Ritchie in '72, but it's quite a different style. So, if Ritchie ain't doing what Albert was doing and vice versa, then who's to say? Same could be said of many other guitar players.

    Likewise, Halsall's lead work on Patto's 'Loud Green Song' -- with its lighting fast runs, frenzied string bending and, especially, zany whammy bar histrionics -- really presaged what EVH would be doing later that decade.

    Fer sure that solo is NOT one of the most technical for the time period, But it is one of the friggin’ BEST!

    Thanks so much for posting this! Visually with the band setup, some well-timed camera shots or edits, and moreso musically, I had neither heard nor seen this before.

    This is technical, but nowhere near as technical as Blackmore's solos on "Pictures of Home", "Lazy", "Child in Time", "Highway Star", etc.
